I'm back after shutting my computer down to try to alleviate the sluggishness it was experiencing.  Seems to have helped.

DS Rob was sick to his stomach this morning, but it might have had something to do with the 30 push-ups and 30 Hindu squats he decided to do immediately upon arising.  He's OK now.

While I was away, the multitudes took up residence on and around the piano:

Still a bit queasy this morning, but nothing like last night - don't know if I'm out of the woods or not at this point, but will take Jose's advice and lay off the Diet Coke, which didn't taste particularly good anyway.  I'll have to go buy some 7-Up, I guess.  Isn't that what's always recommended?

That is sad news, DR VIXMOM.  The Gallery is neat place - we've been there a couple of times.  8)

http://www.jamesdeangallery.com/about.html

David Loehr the guy who runs it, is a strange guy - and it is a FOR PROFIT enterprise.  He doesn't have the blessing or support of Jimmy's family who still live in Fairmount.  The Town Museum that they support and give donations to isn't much of an attraction.

In fact last June the family and the town decided to have a 50th Anniversary Observance of Jimmy's passing in JUNE!!!  Then they observed the actual anniversary in September with their regular James Dean Days....and it was a bust....I think something like 6,000 people and they had expected 50,000.

Maybe Jimmy's time has passed.  But the Gallery was a great place.  Go the website and take the virtual tour while you still can.  :-\

White House said to OK McCain's Torture Policy[/size]

Gotta  love this headline on MSN from the AP.

It makes it sound as if McCain is in favor of torturing and finally convinced Bush....

If you only read the headlines and not the story which begins:

"WASHINGTON - After months of resistance, the White House has agreed to accept Sen. John McCain’s call for a law banning cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of foreign suspects in the war on terror, several congressional officials said Thursday."

you would walk away withthe totally wrong impression!!

DR Jason - 20 minutes in a dark alley?  Usually, it's just 10.  Must be a Holiday Special?!?!?

Is this from our voice of experience?  Or a nautical custom in your neck of the woods?

Oh, honey - you've been going to the wrong alleys!  ;)

Well, DR Jose does cover the waterfront.

Oh, break a leg tonight, DR Jose!  Or screw a cue.

Glad you are feeling better, BK. I've never had food poisoning -- just morning sickness.

Broken legs, Jose!!

We had our Christmas lunch at the office today. We usually call it something else since one of our secretaries is a Jehovah's Witness and can't celebrate anything....no birthdays nada.   Well, she called in sick today so we called it a Christmas lunch and talked christmas things.  We ate at Hu Hot...nothing like a Mongolian Christmas

We don't exchange gifts, though, we decided none of us would really like one of the $5 and under gifts so we just go eat together

Well, it's snowing here and has been all day, but it doesn't seem to be accumulating. Kind of wierd. It's in the air, but the ground is barely white.  It was great this morning. Huge flakes, I was running around trying to catch one on my tongue, but alas no luck.

TOD,
I had food poisoning once when I was home for a Christmas visit.  I lived in Phoenix then and had to fly back that day. My dad drove me to the airport in Minneapolis and we had to keep stopping the car so I could lean out the door and throw up.   Not pleasant.   Luckily by the time they put me on the plane I was feeling a little better.  But it was something I never want to do again.

There better be plans to do a haineshisway.com gathering to see Deceit.  We've never had a full-out LA gathering.  Let the plans begin!

Hi, gang. I'm at the office awaiting our holiday party which begins at 4:30pm. I'm clearing out my office mail box so when I return on January 3rd I'll only have a few hundred messages, not a few hundred hundred.

We are all ready to leave. The only fly in the ointment is this transit strike mess. Car services which are not in Manhattan are not taking reservations because they will have trouble getting into Manhattan. Those in Manhattan are fully booked as I found out over the past few days. Oh, well. If we have to we will walk to Penn Station and take the Long Island Railroad to Jamaica and take the Air Train to JFK from there although there are rumors that some of the LIRR and Metro North employees will honor the transit strike. Oy and Vey. Our flight takes off at 8:45 pm but we are planning (if there is a strike) to leave the house at 11:30 to get to Penn Station for the train. It is expected that there will be large crowds and LIRR has said they will enforce crowd control on the trains. Since we have a large suitcase (we're leaving for two weeks) it may be more difficult to get on a train. Otherwise things are fine. I will probably post another time or two before tomorrow afternoon.

Bye for now.
