So JRand55, did you let the others in the store know that they were standing in the same area as the star of the film RAGE OF THE WEREWOLF?! That doesn't happen every day!

Well, actually I guess it does if Rodzinski goes out shopping or something.

No...I didn't mention RAGE OF THE WEREWOLF, and neither did Tom....you know the bigger they are, the nicer they are.

And thanks, DR CILLALIZ! :)

I almost hate to ask this, but let's say I wanted to rent my first Bollywood movie....what would you recommend (I hate to ask because if they are addicting...well, I'll be in big trouble)

I like surprises in the mail.

You know I keep meaning to post that I got a surprise in the mail this week...from someone named Daniel...I don't know if that is our Dan(the man) or not as there was no letter...just a CD. But I couldn't get the CD to play. Maybe it is a DVD. Duh! I guess I should try that.

DTM, did you send it? I am perplexed!

DR CILLALIZ - IF you want to start on the Bollywood train - please begin with Meena Kumari's PAKEEZAH....oh so lovely and so tragic.

How can you resist:

For her to fall in love was forbidden - it was a sin she as told - "A nautch-girl is born to delight others, such is her destiny."  She preferred to die a thousand deaths than to live as a body without a soul.  And yet when her restless soul could not suppress this surging desire "To love and be loved" she took birth as PAKEEZAH - the pure one.

All this and MUSIC, too!

Well, you know Cillaliz, I have recommended Bollywood movies to many a DR...but none have become addicted! LOL! In fact most have not yet forgiven me.

But, I think BRIDE AND PREJUDICE would be a great one to begin with...it is really only a semi-Bollywood movie as it is in English...but it is exactly like the Hindi Bollywood movies.

Then try the semi-Bollywood movie THE GURU...it is hilarious!

Those two movies you will enjoy for sure...then, if you dare, you might try a real Bollywood movie.

I almost forgot...The Topic of the Day:  Media Check!

In my CD player:  nothing.

In my VCR:  a couple of tapes of shows that I taped this week, but I don't even remember what they are.  Hopefully, I'll find out sometime this weekend.

I went to Costco and bought "Mirror Mirror" and "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister," both by Gregory Maguire, author of "Wicked."  Hopefully, I'll actually read them. ;)

Ok, I put both of them in my Queue on Netflix. I will start there, but I would also like a REAL Bollywood title too.

Purloined breasts, Meena Kumari, tramping on foreign soil (including the country of London), 3-D cameras, visitors from out of town, breeching of contracts!

Where else on all of the internet could you find this?  I ask you?  Where?

And finally, in my DVD player (the mother load):  I had a coupon from Blockbuster that I could get any four $7.99 or less used DVDs for only $12.00 total!  I did and saved $20.  At the same time, they were having a buy any three used DVDs for only $25.  I bought three and saved another $10!  I also went to Fred Meyer and bought a couple of DVDs, but they were full price, so there was no savings there.

At Fred Meyer, I got "Oklahoma," the 50th anniversary Todd-AO/CinemaScope 2-fer and the 60th anniversary "State Fair" with the 1962 re-make.  ($19.99 each...full price :P)

At Blockbuster, I got for the $12:
"Rick" with Bill Pullman
"Closer" with Julia Roberts, et al.
"Big Fish[/b]" with Ewan McGregor
"Exorcist:  The Beginning," the second of TWO prequels to "The Exorcist"

From the Blockbuster "3 for $25" special, I got:
"Dominion:  Prequel to The Exorcist," the FIRST prequel that was totally scrapped and completely refilmed with a different director but same lead actor.
"Lovers and Other Strangers[/b]" from 1970 with lots of people
"Mad Hot Ballroom," a documentary about students in several New York City elementary schools that learn ballroom dancing and compete in a city wide dance competition.  Probably the best one of the bunch. ;)
