BK, would you post the recipe for Wacky Noodles again, for those of us who have forgotten to save it.

I’m sure Keith will consider his last two days digging in the trenches a low.

He is in for the night now.

Wacky Noodles it is.  Remember, it sounds weird, but is ever so yummilicious.  I'm making it right now, having just been out on the Wacky Streets.  The rain has abated on my Wacky Street, but every three blocks there is a pocket where it is pouring.  Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, there is a Pouring Pocket every three blocks - for example, it was pouring heavily at Gelson's.

One twelve-ounce or 1 pound bag of bow tie pasta or penne pasta or extra wide egg noodles.

One can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup.

Dried minced onion

Ketchup

Salt and pepper

Low-fat milk

Sour cream

Boil noodles.  Drain them and put them back into the pot.  Whilst keeping the heat low, add cream of mushroom soup, add milk (just fill the empty soup can and add that much), add a generous amount of minced onion, and stir.  If it looks too thick, add a bit more milk.  Add salt and pepper (I use a lot), and then add a bit of ketchup - this should turn the sauce a pink color - don't use too much, just enough for the pink color and to taste - usually a couple of healthy squirts from a squeeze bottle will do the trick.  Mix it all up.  Turn the heat up and get it nice and hot, stirring often.  When it's completely heated, add app. 6 ounces of sour cream, stir again, and let it heat another couple of minutes.  Serve.  Eat.

The whole deal costs under five bucks and you will be quite full and happy when you're done.

Bruce, while you are parting the old year with a delicious (I suppose-ketchup & cream of mushroom soup sound weird to me) yet unhealthy meal, will you begin the New Year with a healthy one?

I hope no one is feeding this to their dogs:

Contaminated dog food which was sold in 23 states killed nearly two dozen dogs and sickened 18 more, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.

The recalled pet food was sold in 23 states under the brand names Diamond, Country Value and Professional, and bears the date codes of March 1, 2007, through June 11, 2007. Consumers are asked to immediately stop using the product.

Do any DRs remember THE BEULAH SHOW? I found a place that has some episodes on DVD and I wondered if the show was any good...the cast sounds great! (well, the various versions of the cast...seems they recast the entire cast after the first season).

I am afraid that I lack the eloquence of some of the people at this site, in expressing my feelings, so I will just write down things, freeform, and hope that they make some sense.

***

I don't care for New Year's Eve.  I never have enjoyed it.  Instead of viewing it as a time of rejoicing, I have always thought of it as a time to mourn the loss of yet another year; a year without obtaining the success or the happiness that I had hoped to achieve.

***

This year, in particular, has been a year filled with great unhappiness for me; but, I guess, without that unhappiness I would never have been able to appreciate any of the wonderful pleasures that I have enjoyed this year.

***

I want to thank all of my dear friends here at HHW, whose gifts of love and friendship have meant so much to me over the past year.  Cheers to Tomovoz, elmore, Jane, td, Panni, Danise, Ginny, Jed, Ann, and Charles Pogue (as well as any others that I may have forgotten).

***

I truly enjoyed attending my first HHW gathering this year in Portland. It was a day for not only getting to spend time with current friends Ann, Jed, and George; but finally getting a chance to meet our very own charming host, the fantastic BK; as well as the charming JMK and DW Betsy.  Of course, the bonus of that gathering was a chance to finally meet MBarnum, in the flesh - a pure delight that any gay male or heterosexual female should take an opportunity to enjoy.

***

Speaking of MBarnum, has anyone else seen those Budweiser commercials this year featuring the always hunky August Busch IV?  Am I the only one who thinks that Mr. Barnum could easily be his brother?

***

The loss of DR Derek, as well as the loss of several other long-time friends and coworkers has been tough on me this year.  Seeing the decline in the health of so many of my other friends, family members, and most importantly, the health of my beloved Angel has taken a lot of joy out of what otherwise might have been happier times for me.  My own health problems, which I had hoped were behind me (don't go there TCB), seem to have become more frequent, as well.

***

Artistically, it was a wonderful year.  Beginning last December, I completed seven different theatrical productions.  Although all of them (with the exception of working with my son) were enjoyable, but getting the honor to portray Branch Rickey in NATIONAL PASTIME was the highlight of the year.  Winning four acting awards was a great thrill, but the Best Actor Award for NATIONAL PASTIME is the one I will cherish most.

***

I also had the pleasure of reading a really great Thin Man-style murder mystery play, which I had never read before, and no, it is not DECEIT.  I may have to end up producing this play myself, because one of our local theaters is throwing aside all reasonable choices in the hopes of securing DREAMGIRLS, and the other theater doesn’t want to do the play, because the Artistic Director doesn’t care for the title of the play.  These are the same two theaters that are always complaining that are no good murder mysteries left to produce.

I was invited to meet a friend at a bar tonight. Its a 20 minute or so drive there and then there are the idiots on the road.

In case I do go.

Happy New Year everyone

Fortunately for me, there have been many more highs than lows.  Several people have mentioned meeting our very own BK, and that is one of the highs for me, as well.  Losing our very own Derek is one of the few lows.

I'm leaving to go to dinner with the family, now.  I plan to be back before the end of the year tonight, but then I'll be off until tomorrow (house-sitting, you know). ;)

When I Googled Alzheimer's, to make sure that I spelled it correctly; Google popped up just the phrase, Alzheimer's Disease (in bold print), eight times in a row.  Do you think that Google is trying to tell me something?

Which is more than I can say for the film I'm watching - neither comforting nor yummilicious - merely disturbing and sadly not too dated at all.  The film?  Fritz Lang's Fury.
