THE DENSITY OF THE INTENSITY
« on: January 04, 2006, 12:25:57 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were intense and rather dense, the notes made sense and didn't sit on the fence, so now it is time for you to post until the dense, intense cows come home.

Wastrels were common in the 11th and 12th centuries. They nested in the outhouses and attacked passerbys attempting to line their own nests with all and sundries stolen from their victims. They are now extinct but the terms has been "recoined" to now mean a person who wastes his/her money on sundries rather than to feather their nests and give needed support to their young. Such is the development of language.

It is of course quite possible that none of the above is true.

Good morning, all!  A wandering wastrel, I, finally getting my hair cut today at 9:30 and so looking forward to it.  I have a trip to the recording office to drop off some BABES materials, then a trek or fax to my accountant, and home to set up my new DVD player which I purchased yesterday afternoon during an IRS break.

The new CD player is wonderful.  It came through its first marathon run yesterday, and I still need to sit down with the manual and learn what all it can do.

I've finished the BABES editorial notes for Vol 1 of the score and I'm stuck in Volume 2 now.  I'd like to finish them up this week so that I can begin the actual proofing of them.  I would  swear that my thesis was much easier to write!

Good morning TD and all others.

My second day back at work. I don't have piles of work to do so I'm slowly easing back into desk mode.

I begin Jury Duty on January 17th. It will be my 7th time in 20 years. Every time I'm called I get picked for a jury so I'm assuming I will be judging someone's fate this time too.

So are we having dinner on January 16th at Barrymore's w/DR Ginny, Richard, Larry and possible others? I have a new calendar and I think I forgot to write that in. We are going out to Long Island for the long weekend but will be back early Monday afternoon in time for dinner.

I must leave for a while and begin to work again.

Later!

Last night I hastily reported on here that the trapped coal miners in West Virginia were found alive, but that sadly turned out not to be the case with the exception of one sole survivor.  I apologize for jumping the gun and posting the news here.

Yes!  Good morning, DR Ben!

I have a favor to request:  has anyone a copy of "Anthem" from CHESS?  If so, could you please send/fax me a copy?  Thanks!

DR DantheMan, when I saw your post this morning, I was so happy to hear they'd been saved, and I'm sorry to learn that wasn't the case.  You didn't jump the gun, you merely reported what the media released.

So, when are you going to come into NYC and join us all for a bit of conviviality?

During Leno last night they had a news ticker running that 12 of the miners were found alive.  I then switched over to CNN and they spent an hour interviewing the families.

Now if they had not been found alive I probably would not have watched (makes me too upset).

The tv was still on when I was stirring around 4am and I heard them saying they had a miscommunication.

How horrible for those families to think they were saved.  I felt so crummy and tossed and turned all night.  For some reason though I'm trying to remember which family belonged to the sole survivor.

DR Dan I don't think you jumped the gun, it was all over the news.

Good vibes to all involved, I really feel sick now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

DR Elmore, that is one of my resolutions for the year.  I don't have Martin Luther King Day off, but I think I do have off for President's Day.  Maybe I can pop up that weekend.

BK I should have realized you were at your rehearsal.... I  forgot that you are living in the "past" and was thinking it was 11:30  when I wondered at your whereabouts, of course it was merely  8:30 or so PST

I keep thinking about those poor miners and their families.

How can a mine be allowed to function with over 204 violations?

I woke up with a miserable cold.  I took some cold medicine which has effectively stopped the sneezing and coughing and allowed me to breathe freely.... but all I want do is go back to bed.  :P

I suppose they would frown on using a sick day on the second day of the year, especially since I am coming off a vacation. :-\

LOL, that's exactly what I'm thinking of doing today. I've been catching a cold for the past few days and as I was walking from the parking ramp to the office all I wanted to do was turn around and go home.  I don't have anything urgent on the calendar today, so I really may do that.   I do need to sleep. I haven't slept well the past couple nights and I need to get some rest or I may really go down for the count.

Thanks for the vibes on selling the house Vixmom. The market here is really a buyers market - lots of reasons for that, but I won't bore you with the economic condition of Sioux City, IA - anyway, I'm a bit concerned about that, but it's also the reason I got what I think is a great deal on the house I'm buying.
