Hello To All!
Long time, no post! Been much too busy. And today I don't have the time either, BUT I didn't want the day to pass without a mention of meeting the gracious host of this here site last night!

At first, I was a little disappointed that he didn't recognize me, but then I realized--he's never even seen a photograph of me, let alone met me in person! Oy. Such a ball of energy and quick wit is he. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, and also meeting Linda Purl. I've long been a fan and to see this other side of her was wonderful.

Cabaret West is a co-sponsor of the Cabaret Series at The Shannon Center and Linda's show was the last in its second season. It was a great finale. BK's contributions to Linda's show were very much in evidence and, if ever she is performing in your city, I strongly encourage you to see her. You won't be disappointed!

Did you know Linda grew up and studied in Japan and one of her first roles was as Louis, Anna's son, in The King and I? To illustrate, she sang Whistle a Happy Tune in Japanese. It was absolutely delightful! And, boy, can she belt! Every so often I glimpsed a similarity to Judy Garland--although she is definitely her own person. She slips into the emotion of a song and tells its story so effortlessly. She's a complete joy to watch and listen to, and with BK's sure hand, her show can only get better.

Happy Birthday to all and Loving Blessings and Prayers to those in need.

What a day! Much unpacking done and 30 boxes broken down and taken to the recycling center.  I saved way too many boxes at the old house and we took tons of them out of there (well, maybe not tons, but a lot more than I will admit) so I have sworn that I will not save my cardboard boxes and started on it today.

I have a lot more to unpack. Most of those boxes were books and the last bit of the kitchen stuff. It's so nice to have books on shelves again. It really feels more like home

Oh, and I did buy the accessories for the bathroom. Think I'll go see if I can put them up.

DR CILLA LIZ - don't forget to stack the liquor boxes out front!  Down by the Street.  As high as they will go.

I am watching a special about the Bermuda Triangle on The History Channel...coming up next:  Titanic The Final Minutes.  8-)

DR PENNYO thanks for sharing your audition experiences with us.  For those of us who would like to, but don't for one reason or another, it's always nice to to read about someone out there actually doing it!!

Great Bar Mitzvah report DRFJL - and ya know, I live in Indiana, but I have heard of Jan McArt!  So she is famous - or notorious depending on what you read or who you listen to.

Instead of the title of the notes, it sounds more like A Purl of Great Price.

I also love THE SHAKIEST GUN IN THE WEST - and THE GHOST AND MR CHICKEN....

Did Barney and Thelma Lou ever get married?  I can't remember.  I know Knotts left the show after five years - because Griffith had decided to end it, but then after Knotts was contractually obligated to Universal Studios, Griffith was talked into going for a few more season.  It was NEVER the same, and some of the people they got to replace Barney were terrible.  One deputy - can't think of the comedian's name....was terrible.

Even though the Dancing With The Stars finale is on now, I'm not watching. I stopped after they got rid of Lisa Rinna and kept Jerry Rice. I will probably tune in at the end just to see who wins. Hopefully it will be Drew Lachey.

I watched parts of the Closing Ceremonies this afternoon.  The Vancouver 2010 parts were sort of touching to me. And it was nice to hear Avril Lavigne sing.  Then when I switched to the other CBS (newsworld) they were doing an hour feature on Elizabeth Manley (it totally made me cry).

For American Idol fans I just came across an article claiming who the favorites are to win the show:

http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/ace-young-deemed-favorite-win-fox-american-idol-5-3967.php

To me I think the favorites have to be Paris or Lisa (the 17 and 16 yr old).  And I guess Katharine would be my next choice. Will be interesting to see if these guesses are right.

LOL, I thought about it!  I ended up with liquor, Hormel meats and Hallmark boxes - I wonder what someone would think looking at that combination.

FJL, so glad the Bar Mitzvah boy did well and you had a good time.

Our Rabbi in Michigan often joked with the kids during the Mitzvah’s.  More often than not they were too nervous to respond.  Not so Craig and the Rabbi said he especially enjoyed the service.

Back from a really good performance of the play, and a really lovely dinner with Miss Jessica Rush, who I think terrif.  She's starring in a new musical about to premiere at the (heaven help me) Ricardo Montalban Theater - really the Huntington Hartford to anyone who grew up in LA (the final Kritzer book is loaded with loving references to the Hartford).  It's something called Pilgrim, which I'll go see when it opens.  For anyone with the latest Guy Haines CD, the beautiful Miss Rush sings I'm Past My Prime with Mr. Haines - and it's one of my favorite duet tracks ever.

Baby! It's F-ing Cold Outside!!!

I believe the current temp is 19, and there's a Severe Weather Alert tonight due to the Wind Chills reaching near, at and below 0.

I guess it really is winter.

It really is MUCH too cold.  Today after grocery shopping I was trying to walk home but the wind was preventing me from making forward progress.  I just leaned forward and it held me up.  My poor ears.

...I just got back from a brief trek through Macy's, and dinner at John's Pizza with my friend, James.

I had special sale coupons for Macy's... But I didn't end up buying anything.  There were a few temptations along the way, but nothing that was truly a must-have or must-buy.  However, the next round of clearance discounts kick in this Wednesday, so...  ;)

*James is also a self-proclaimed Macy's expert, and he was the perfect tour guide through the three and a half floors of  their Men's Department.  He knew where all the various departments were, and, more importantly, where all the escalators were located.
