We are supposed to be having a respite today from all the rain of the past week.  But only until this evening, when another winter storm swooshes in...bringing much cooler temperatures and more water.

Water...water...everywhere.....

I won a bunch of photos at eBay last night...color stills from the 1956 "War and Peace", a couple of color stills that I did not have from "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", and a batch of color stills from "Around the World in 80 Days" (also 1956).

It's a gratifying hobby at times.

Goodness.

Perhaps I ought to do extracts from the diary of Samuel Pepys.

Kissed the maid, beat the boy and so to bed

DR Jose,  I have to say again that it is so wonderful to hear about your stories of your dream coming true with Lestat etc. How wonderful and exciting for you. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Cillaliz took the words right out of my mouth! Jose, I just think it is wonderful and I am so happy for you...now my dream is to come to New York and see Lestat featuring Jose at the piano!

Oh, dear, so many boxed DVD sets coming out next week:
the third round of Shirley Temple films, the Busby Berkeley set, and then TV sets of GIDGET, BEWITCHED (season 3), HUFF, FLYING NUN (season 1).

And then Paramount is offering a new STALAG 17 and that TEN COMMANDMENTS set we talked about the other day.

Plus new releases like CAPOTE and CHICKEN LITTLE.

I'll be picking and choosing from this lot.

I will certainly be getting the Shirley Temple films...maybe THE FLYING NUN....gosh but I loved that show a lot when I was a kid.

So....three members of the pit are on the 7th floor?  Do you watch the conductor on a tv screen?  Do you hear the rest of the orchestra and the singers?  I am confused....well...amazed and confused.

Well I am watching WALK THE LINE again....this time of DVD.  And Joaquin did a fine job....Reese of course did as well.

It is just a leisurely film...to say the least....slow...  But I am enjoying it again.

AND the DVD of THE SHAGGY DOG is very good.  The commentary by Kevin Corcoran, Tim Considine, Tom Kirk, and Roberta Shore is a lot of fun to listen to....they are all together watching the film and commenting on it.

There is a short extra called The Kids of THE SHAGGY DOG that has current interviews (copyrighted in 2004 - where has it been?  Was it a Disney Channel interview?) - haven't watched the colorized version which is about 10 minutes shorter.  And a short collection of clips and memories of Fred MacMurray by the cast and others from THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE including Mr Dick Sherman.

A nice disc!

I cannot think of that show without hearing the phrase "Fine Corinthian Leather" in my head!

Which reminds me, did anyone else see any of the Spy Kids movies?  Ricardo Monteban plays the wheelchairbound grandfather. At some point he strokes his chair and announces it is made with "fine corinthian leather"

I laughed so hard I nearly fell off the couch but the joke was lost on the Vixter and Vixdad

I do have to say that I would recognize Kevin and Tim - but Roberta (who is still a lovely woman) and Tom were NOT as recognizable....

TOD:

Your favorite Harvey Schmidt composition?

So many!  But, my favorite piece of music is Gonna Be Another Hot Day, the part that's reused as Evening Star.  Followed by I'm Glad To See You've Got What You Want, followed by just about everything else.

If all the transfers look as good as Murder, She Said, then everyone should be very pleased with the Marple set.

I would prefer the bouncy theme song from FIVE WEEKS IN A BALLOON, the movie that BK watched/will be watching.

Well, it was termites at both houses.  Nothing active, but there is evidence they've been there, so I'm treating both houses and repairing the obvious damage at the old house.  Enough already.   I'm tired of spending money on that place, I'm ready for it to be gone.
