Will anyone be picking up the Busby Berkley DVD set next week?

I have 42ND STREET (one of my all time favorite musicals) already, but I would like to have the other titles...at least FOOTLIGHT PARADE and GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933.

Of course I'll be buying it. I've already told a friend he'll be getting the 42nd STREET that I bought previously.

I am tired. She wouldn't part with anything, so it is all boxed or bagged and in the shed. Where the mice will probably destroy it. But I don't care.

I was greatly relieved that the Miss Marple films were all in the proper aspect ratio. I was SO frustrated looking for that information at the store yesterday and not being able to see it on the box. It's listed on each individual film, of course.

I also looked at last night's new SCRUBS episode. It was only an average episode in the series, but after all these years, they're allowed an off-night every now and then.

Still have last night's THE CLOSER to watch later today before prime time TV begins. Looking forward to seeing one of my favorite new procedurals.

Regarding "Commonwealth Day," I provided a link yesterday that discussed then-Premiere Trudeau signing the observance into law in 1976.

I know that Quebec has considered itself a separate entity from the rest of Canada to the point of trying to secede, so perhaps you guys don't really consider yourselves "Canadian"?

By the way, many Americans know things Canadian because of one person -- Alex Trebek...a Canadian and a game-show host who ensures "Canada" and other things Canadian are featured as categories on "Jeopardy."

Perhaps you don't watch it?

Why is the sky blue?

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. As light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

As you look closer to the horizon, the sky appears much paler in color. To reach you, the scattered blue light must pass through more air. Some of it gets scattered away again in other directions. Less blue light reaches your eyes. The color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

On Earth, the sun appears yellow. If you were out in space, or on the moon, the sun would look white. In space, there is no atmosphere to scatter the sun's light. On Earth, some of the shorter wavelength light (the blues and violets) are removed from the direct rays of the sun by scattering. The remaining colors together appear yellow.

Also, out in space, the sky looks dark and black, instead of blue. This is because there is no atmosphere. There is no scattered light to reach your eyes.

Me, too, especially the latter.  I'm a sucker for a plot that has the leading man come down with lumbago!

I wonder what will be for dinner?

I'm still full from lunch.  Eight of us went ot Oakland's Chinatown to Shan Dong and had a feast....Shan Dong chicken, braised green beans and shrimp, braised green beans and chicken, szechuan eggplant, hand made noodles in a peanut sauce, and dumplings.

YUM.
