I have some errands to run so I need to head downstairs now to clean up a bit so I can face the rest of the world.

Last night, DR François translated:

"Vous savez, c'est pas facile la vie d'un mac' (Pouvez pas savoir!)
Quand il doit trouver d'la tunne pour payer l'loyer (Pouvez-pas savoir!"

Now THAT's Oscar-worthy!

Geez....another very overcast day.

The rains came last night -- in torrents.  Oakland should be one of the cleanest cities in the world just now.

But it isn't.  Lots of clogged street drains...and tree limbs and trash piled upon them.

It will be a rainy St. Patrick's Day here, I fear.

Top of the 'morning to ya'll!

I also shall be watching The Quiet Man this evening on DVD.   I'm going to have to get Darby O'Gill and the Little People.  I didn't know that it was out on DVD.

The repair guy is coming today to work on the satellite.   I've been without the TV for over a week now but I honestly don't miss it.

Vibes to DR Vixmoms friends!

DR Dan: I read somewhere that the DVD of THE QUIET MAN is a very disappointing transfer. Please give us your impressions of the color quality and sharpness after you've watched. Thanks.

I'll will review my opinion after tonight's viewing.  You have to understand that after watching this film through shoddy, cropped and faded prints on broadcast TV over the years, anything would have been a significant improvement.  The first time I watched the DVD, I found the color and crispness mesmerizingly eye catching.

The DVD I have is the initial release from a few years back and not the more recent collector's edition.

Right now I am listening to, on CD, Hisham O'Abbas sing Shoofi (though the clovers?) with back-up by the singer Ragheb McMohammed.

Top of the marnin' to ye!

Well, I did remember before I left for work, so I am wearing olive pants, Lincoln green shirt, neon Kelly green tie with shamrocks on it (my once-a-year tie), olive drab shoes, and a patterned red and green sweater.

I did forgo the neon green socks.

But my CD player at work has the York Theatre production of Lucky Stiff with Malcolm Getz.  I should have remembered to bring in the OBC of Juno.

What we really need is a CD of Donnybrook, that's what we really need.

Wisha wurra, wisha wurra,
What we haven't go we'll get...

VCR has blank tape to record Bill Maher tonight.  Now he's Irish, although he had the Prime Minister or something of Ireland on his show last fall, and she chided him for pronouncing his name "Marr" instead of "Mah-her".

begora, begora...

I just found a fortune cookie from the other day when I stopped off to get dinner for us.  It says:  You will soon be involved in many gatherings, parties and communications.

Sooo let the good times roll!

Sorry to say that both Quiet Man DVDs are appallingly bad, image-wise - soft, verging on out-of-focus and looking nothing like that gloriously photographed film should look.  One hears rumors of a new DVD coming from Paramount, who now owns the Republic library.

I shall write TPunk's paper.  In fact, I've already started it.  I have no idea what subject she's supposed to write about, but it's quite good so far.

Like DR Ron said, it's raining here in the Bay Area.  It's cold, too, which I don't particularly like.  Rain is fine, cold rain is not.

I'm finally enjoying playing "Aida" and the kids pulled off the preview performance last night. I think the run will be great.  I'm now interested in Verdi's version

DR Elmore, (or any other DR) can you reccomend a good recording of Verdi's "Aida"?
