We aren't "serious Renners" so we don;t have personas.

They sell the stuff at the Con and I had been looking at it for years but it is always so expensive that I never jumped since to spend several hundred dollars for something that'll get used once or twice a year just was never in the budget.   Last year about an hour before closing on Saturday a dealer who was leaving early and not staying for the Sunday show decided to sell stuff off cheap, I got the full length chemise, skirt and stomacher (por whatever you call it) for about $100, often the corset thing alone costs that.

The Vixter is actually wearing a silk/polyester skirt I got at the GoodWill last week for $5 and a peasant blouse  I got at another GoodWill last year for $5!

yes, they can be very expensive...

I made my own.....

No, I think it was deliberate, and for no reason, really, as it's nothing that would have bothered me in the least - no biggie and, as I said, really silly, but I get very weirded out when people who are close to me do that.

NO.  I have never been to a "real" Ren Faire though!   Actually they are having a one day one on April 30 at a nother college campus not far from here and the Bards are being brought up for it , so we may attend that one

I do not do it as much as I used but I still have my costumes. It was fun especially when they have coronations and feasts.

The tunics are really easy to make. One costume I just sold that no longer fits me was one that had a lot of embroidery and I sold that for over 125. It had a LOT of hours put into it.

Well maybe the person thought it was something that would have bothered you and was trying to spare your feelings, thinking you had enought to deal with  with line learning and  workshop teaching and caberet scheduling  etc etc etc

Among the very many areas for which I have no talent is the art of sewing.  I can do counted cross stitch but actually cutting and sewing of materials? Clueless that's me.

I have done some sewing, I was in 4H for many years...

For me embroidering was tough, especially doing a celtic knot.

I see Wisconsin finally won in the 3rd OT to make it to the Frozen four....

They play Maine. UND plays Boston College.

At least it was not Minnesota. UND has a bitter rivalry with them followed by them wascally Badgers from Wisconsin!

I'm glad that no one was hurt at the old house, DR Cillaliz.  I guess that means no lawsuit!

Well, no one was there, and I know the window well cover wasn't covered with snow. I haven't heard from anyone, so we'll see

I wish I could remember them! ;)

Today was a day of nothing but TV watching...three episodes of the new "Dr. Who," then "Living With Fran," "In Justice," "Conviction," "The Evidence," "20/20" and now "Desperate Housewives."  And a little bit of laundry.  That's been my whole day. :)

Dakota - Do you go to the Minnesota Rennaisiance Festival?  I've been there a number of times as well as the one in Arizona, Kansas and now Sioux City has one. I was impressed for a first year. They had jousters and the whole 9 yards. I've considered volunteering this year, but it depends when it is

Got back from a toast/roast of Barbara and Scott Siegel at St. Clement's Church, at which Dear Friend Milla smashingly performed "When Does the Ravishing Begin?"  A fun evening, with many jokes about the fact that the Siegels are always seem around town, outside almost every show you go to, passing out flyers for their various projects.  Lovely evening of tribute to two very lovely and dedicated people.

Jose, do you get to visit the downstairs pit during intermission?

I'm pretty sure Skip and I are seeing LESTAT Wednesday night.

Well, I guess I'll visit the main pit Wednesday night then.  Just have to time the elevators back up - actors get first priority, so...  -But you could always wave to me via the conductor's cam.  ;)

Society of Creative Anachronism

It is a medeival re-enactment type of group. A person picks a persona from the middle ages to early Renaissance and they research that time period and recreate costumes, etc.

Dakota - There's a play that just opened in NYC called SHILOH RULES, which has gotten swell reviews (especially in the NY Times) and which our Dear Neighbor Kate Weiman is in.  It's about a group of women who re-enact the Civil Wat.

Dear Friend Milla gets her Bistro Award tomorrow (Monday) night.  I (sniff) wasn't able to wangle an invite to the ceremony, but we made dinner plans to fill the void.
