Jose,  on opening nights on Broadway, do all the actors autograph  Playbills for each other? (or is that totally uncool?)

Yes.  There's usually a Playbill and/or poster by the Sign-In board with a Post-It on it, "Please sign for me".  Others will go around and get their stuff signed throughout the run.  -That's what I will be doing.

*You'd be amazed at some of the memorabilia that actors have in their collections.

There are some places you don't want to go with our DR Jose!

But I'm just following the map and directions you gave me, DR elmore!

You had a computer that typed documents FOR you?

Where can I find this wonderful invention?

:D

Ha! Well, not quite like that. You typed and viewed what you typed on a monitor. When you were done and hit print, it began typing, like a player piano, ghostly typing until 10 minutes had elapsed and one of your pages spooled out.

DR Ben - Yes, Dominique Plaisant is with the show.  I'm not exactly sure what her history is with the show, but she was added to fill out the ensemble for the Broadway run.  Very friendly.

And as for Mr. Haak - Yeah... He's not bad to look at.  Even on a black and white pit monitor.

Tom Poston was in a motion picture entitled ZOTZ! It was about a coin that gave him the power to do anything, kill people, stop time, etc.

OK - I guess I should get ready to head in for tonight's show, our second preview...

And I know I've said it many times already, but, once again, the well-wishes and support from everyone has been much appreciated, and tear-inducing at times (which is a good thing).

:)

In spite of numerous fun titles in the boxes, the one I selected for viewing this afternoon was CAPOTE.

I saw the film in the theater in November, but having seen clips through awards season, I was very anxious to watch it again, and I loved it all over again.

This time around I was even more taken with Clifton Collins' work as Perry Smith. I think he was unjustly denied awards recognition during this past season.

Since a good deal of tonight's line-up is a slew of repeats (except for '24' and OLD CHRISTINE), I may put in THE LITTLE COLONEL this evening until '24' comes on.

And that's what I wore for my opening night.  -With shoes, socks, underwear, jeans and a jacket too.  The t-shirt alone would have been most unseemly.

And it's good to know you didn't omit "underwear"....you never know when you may be flat on your back with paramedics cutting your clothes off you.

'Morning, Woody!

Have you and DerBrucer any plans to see WICKED in Philly?
No, because it is pretty much sold out.  The game plan for the tour of Wicked is to have a very limited run in each city, thus upping the demand for tix.

Given that the production is also scaled back from what can be seen in NYC, we're instead planning to see it there, probably treating ourselves during birthday week (mid-August).

The television commercial and the IDEA were much better than the reality.  :P

I hated the Long Box packaging, but I liked a LOT of the Long Box art.  The only one I saved was the London Cast Recording of BUDDY!

Hurrah!! You will be happy to know that they will help build a strong body and mind equally well with skim , whole  2% or 1% milk. :D

In addition to watching the movie cAPOTE, I watched all of the special featurettes on the DVD. I would love to have seen more of the real Capote. Too bad they couldn't get the A&E Biography of him to add as a supplement. The small amount of real Caopte footage that IS included is very interesting. What a fascinating individual he was! I may go back and reread part of Gerald Clark's biography of him.

I now remember saving the longboxes from two of Victoria's Sesame Street CDs one of which was a paraody  of the Beatle's Abbey Road and the other of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run.   I wonder if I still have those.

From JR and Larry

Jack: Did I mention that I love the movie SMILIN' THROUGH?

Don't miss it - if you've never seen it...unless of course you don't like Jeanette MacDonald or Brian Aherne or romantic-tragic stories....

Larry: The source of the Youman's flop THROUGH THE YEARS!  Great score, though.

And we took the PS Classics Studio Recording Through the Years out of the Lincoln Center Library. It will soon enter our collection of CDs. Not that we will be keeping it and not returning it to the Library you understand. We have every intention of returning it.

Through the Years.

The recording stars many of our favorites including the lovely  Brent Barrett.

I have this CD, too!  The female lead on this recording is Heidi Grant Murphy and I actually went to Western Washington University with her!  I transfered in as a junior when she was a senior.  We only had Concert Choir and an education class together (at the time, I was planning on becoming a high school choir teacher...WHAT WAS I THINKING??), so I'm sure she wouldn't remember me now.  But we did chat once in a great while back then.  She had an incredible voice, even back then. ;D

[If I remember correctly, Heidi was from Lynden (where dancing is not allowed, just like in "Footloose") and the story was that she only went to college to get here MRS degree...but then people found out that she could sing!]

Woody - Have you checked out the Kimmel (no relation to BK) Center's website at kimmelcenter.org for Philly WICKED tickets?  There seem to be some tickets available for some of the performances, and the prices look to be somewhat below the Broadway prices.
