I've always hated the expression "that sucks" and would give the stare of momness.

The Vixter hasn't dared to use that expression around the house yet... but I 'm sure its coming and it WILL be met with the A.S.O.M.

Thanks DR Maria.   Why must they do that? No answer required.

Is "Teachers" the UK programme?  I think there have been 4 series made.. VERY funny. Absurd IS "Teaching".. the staff dynamics were totally believable.

Definitely an Americanized version. And not funny, at least not to me.

I noticed that it finished third in the time slot ratings behind HOUSE on Fox and THE UNIT on CBS.

Not sure if it has made it to cable or whatever but NZ programme "Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby" is an interesting view of Teaching -- and  the absudity of politcal correctness.

Apparently it is available on Region 4 DVD for NZ$28.49

All programming in Indiana has stopped...ALL stations are carrying the news conference live...nothing this important has EVER happened before.

What is it?  A proclamation from the Governor?  A national crisis?  Bird flu?\

No.  Indiana University has chosen a new basketball coach.

We can all breathe easier.  Life can return to normal.

Speaking of sense of humor.... the Vixter brought home an assignment from her  "English Language Arts" teacher which read in part:

"Carefully proofread your work, do not hand in work with silly, carelesss mistakes.  I will take it very personal if you hand in sloppy work."

At least she won't take the carelesss mistakes very personnel.  :P

I just read something interesting for fans of the ABC drama COMMANDER IN CHIEF.

When it comes back to the network in two weeks, it won't be showing on Tuesday night any more. ABC is placing it on Thursday night at 10 p.m. opposite WITHOUT A TRACE on CBS and ER on NBC. Watch for it to return on April 13.

I have made note of this on my calendar!  Thanks!

On the other hand you can say "bloody" all day long on this continent and no one would raise an eyebrow

Funny in eastern ND, bloody is accepted but in western ND it is frowned upon

DR Vixmom - Boston Legal is the only network series that my DH and I watch on a regular basis.  Now that he's living back with us (while on his co-op job), DS Rob seems to be getting into it , too.

Oddly perhaps, "Bloody" was not permitted on the Radio here before about 1970. And the word was "Beeped" in songs such as "The Battle Of New Orleans" and "Snoopy v. The Red Baron" a decade later.  Our "precious" years perhaps.

I put bloody right back in the song...

Also Montana does not like the sheep jokes that ND comes up with

No one watched the PBS Eugene O'Neill docu the other night? It was excellent.
Tomovoz - I read somewhere that TEACHERS is the American version of the British show.

Looks like it's going to rain again. And it's cold (for here).

Interesting piece in today's LA Times about so many books, shows and movies these days being about a loved one suddenly missing. Not necessarily dead - but simply gone. Leaves the house in the morning  - just another day. But never returns. A terrible, aching mystery and void left behind. Obviously a biproduct of 9/11.

Yes, Maria....

I watched it last night. The local public telly station rebroadcasts programs late at night and I watched it. I thought it was very well done and I enjoyed it. It was nice to see different actors in there like Al Pacino and Liam Neeson.

Definitely an Americanized version. And not funny, at least not to me.

I always cringe sometimes when American telly does britcoms. Very few have been done successfully. Granted there are those exceptions like Til Death Do Us Part when became All in the Family and a few others but they are the exception.

We also watched the Eugene O'Neill program Monday night.  My DH fell asleep (to be fair, he was still under the influence of anesthesia).  While I found it very interesting and loved seeing the actors and hearing the excerpts, I thought overall it repeated itself a lot and could have been tightened up with some editing.

I will be information waitressing all evening, so I'm signing off now.  A co-worker likes to use my computer when I'm away from my desk in our office area.

Bye for now.

Well, TEACHERS began with a geometry class being disrupted by two teachers hitting a golf ball into the class and interrupting the lesson by "playing through." Next we found the teachers in the lounge being called "gay" as a putdown. One guy admired the other's leather blazer and was called gay for doing so. Then, a male teacher (the lead of the show) has the female substitute history teacher into his classroom where they proceed to open beers and drink during the school day.

As I said, not for me.

I don't know.
