I have no idea why I am up at this hour.  I should get back to bed.

I remember doing "a la baster" before.  As words to pun by, it was pale.

Nothing on the DVD or any other media right now.  But last night der B and I watched The Prisoner of Zenda on TCM, and enjoyed it.  Interesting, how much Edwards used from this film for his Carpathia sequence in The Great Race, right down to the dive from the window.

I hope that wasn't a spoiler for someone.  (Ross Martin in for James Mason ... interesting casting!)

I have no idea why I'm up right now, but I am so i decided to stop by.  Nothing new. We had some thunderstorms last night - the not severe type that I don't mind one bit.

Good morning, all!  I feel quite rested this morning, and I'm almost ready for a trip to Toyland and a few edits.

I am so over WILL & GRACE; I wish the concluding episodes would finish with all their deaths onscreen; I cannot muster any sense of poignancy for a group of characters whose plot situations, attitudes, and economic status has nothing to do with reality, since all four seem too stupid to survive in any environment and only function at the whims of their writers.  I watch it in hopes that maybe next week she'll have an abortion.

TOD:
CD:  White Horse Inn, Guy Haines, Rebecca Luker Leaving Home, Mozart piano sonatas
DVD:  The Smartest Guys in the Room, Prime (my friend Naomi Aborn is in it)
  VCR:  Oy!

Re the Kiss My ass refernces in the notes:

Does anyone remember the ODD COUPLE episode where Oscar got much-sought-after tickets to a sellout Broadway show and Felix exclaimed:  "You got tickets to KISS MY FACE?"

I'm listening to the Broadway cast of Evita right now. I also have Mame here (since I'm going to DC in May I thought I would give myself a preview) and Oh, Coward, courtesy of former DR Jason.

A friend is meeting Anthony at an audition this morning (they are both auditioning for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Great Lakes Theatre Festival). While there Anthony will receive the Billy Elliot cast recording, the Mary Poppins cast recording and the Broadway cast recording of Her First Roman. Bob, in turn, will receive A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (I can't believe he has never had this CD or tape or album) and Mrs. Henderson Presents.

We will probably watch at least one more Mapp and Lucia this weekend although I'm going to [title of show] this evening and Anthony has a performance by his dance class tomorrow evening so we will probably not see any tapes until Sunday.

I have my aforementioned presentation on "Using the Taxonomy in Your Daily Indexing Work" Doesn't that sound exciting  ;) from 2pm to 4pm so for most of the morning I will be reviewing my material. I've done this thing 3 previous times and this one just has minor revisions so I don't expect any problems. After I leave here I will check the computer in the conference room to make sure everything is working correctly.

34 posts as I logged on this morning! Good to see you all keeping busy.

The Kiss My Ass thing reminds of of using "Duck" in college. We would replace a word in a title with Duck as often as we could.

The Duck at the Top of the Stairs
The Duck Sisters
On A Clear Day You Can See a Duck
A Little Duck Music

You get the picture. Of course it only works if the title has many at least 3 words.

Duck (Annie)
Duck (Mame)
Duck (Shenandoah)
Duck (Camelot)

See, it's not so funny now, is it  8)

Oh, yes, I forgot. I missed chat because my phone line is still acting up. I was on a little before 7pm NY time but the line interference makes it difficult to stay on for any length of time. I kept getting kicked off line (not out of HHW) so I resigned myself to missing chat.

Good morning North America.

"Kiss My Ass" seems like a quote for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to me, but with FJL the quality of mirthy is not strained. And that line about Bambi's drunken Dad - how like a Fawning publican he looks.
Of course those last references were to Merchant Ivory's "Room with a View of Venice".

We've just finished watching "Life Of Brian". The geeks have inherited the mirth.

Bedtime in OZ.

Glad you are enjoying "Mapp and Lucia" DR Ben.
The series captured the humour of the books perfectly IMHO. Wonderfully cast.

Her hair was the darkest black, her eyes the greenest green.  Her skin was like alabaster.  She lowered her slightly pointed chin, battered her lashes, and said sweetly, "Kiss my duck."

I'm reminded that the KISS MY FACE episode of ODD COUPLE is the noted ticket-scalping episode, best known for popularizing "When you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME."

Technically, it's "you put an ASS before U and ME," but Tony Randall still make that line work.

Maybe that last sequence could be Duck Duck Duck Goose!

OMG, What have I started  ;D

I don't know why we chose duck. It seemed funny at the time as we were laying on our backs in the experimental theatre on the hard wooden floor waiting for rehearsal to begin again.

Oh, oh, here's a good one

Howard The Duck

Well, on second thought, maybe not  ;)

Did anyone here actually see that movie? I never did but I wonder how truly awful it was?

If you need to get rid of a still working monitor or computer that you are simply upgrading why not wipe the hard drive and then donate it to the Salvation Army, local church etc?  No "dumping" fee and you may actually get a tax deduction out of it! (Hope I'm not treading on FJL's toes here!)
