I've spent part of the afternoon watching the romantic comedy PRIME, which I'm enjoying quite a lot.  I thought my friend Naomi had more to do in it, but she looks great and has a nice scene with the leading man playing her brother.  I love Uma Thurman, and Meryl Streep is quite funny.

Gosh, yes!

It's my favorite!

I lose all control around a container of Haagen-Dasz Coffee Ice Cream.

Has anybody seen anything of these so-called "Immigrant Protests" today?

Locally, the Pakstani guy was in the 7-11 to sell me my coffee, the Turkish guy was in the gas station to sell me my gasoline, the Vietnamese nail salon next to the gas station was open, my British hubby went to work and hasn't reported the absence of any of his British, Austrailian, New Zealand, Indian, or Pakistani  co -workers.  The Iranian guy who runs the cellphone store is here.  I haven't noticed any less people in the local stores or roads.  Has anyone here noticed any issues or problems today?

DR MARIA sorry you didn't find LITTLE EGYPT your cuppa.  Maybe the subject is more intriguing than the work.

Taking a quick break. Just time enough to say that Little Egypt is not about that Little Egypt. The title refers to an area in southern Illinois where the Wabash, the Ohio, and the Mississippi rivers meet. (The southernmost part of this area is a place called Cairo.) That's all I know. You can look the rest up on Google if it's of interest.

I watched the first hour of THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM. The frame story of the brothers may not be very interesting, but those fairy tales are just delightful.

True to my memory, the TCM print shown was wonderfully wide (I suspect taken from the 35mm print used for the general release, but it looks wider to my eyes than the reduced 35mm HOW THE WEST WAS WON transfer). Sadly, it has faded pretty badly with almost all of the color drab and uninteresting. I do love all the CInerama point-of-view shots they've thrown in.

I remember at one of the Warner chats that the execs knew the film was in terrible shape and needed a complete restoration which they didn't seem convinced was going to ever happen. A shame.

Attention all Noo Yorkers:

This month at the Museum of the City of New York is the Dorothy Draper restrospective.  One of the TOP interior designers of the late 40's and 50's, Ms Draper designed MANY business interiors and is responsible for the LOOK of the decade as much as anyone else.

GO...

That is all.

COLD CASE had a murder investigation harking back to 1945, a female reporter who longer to ditch her Dear Abby-type column and become a real reporter. Peter Graves was the primary guest star this week.

Then I watched LAW & ORDER: CI, an immersive episode with a flashy poker player used in a murder plot. Didn't go anywhere I was expecting and ended up one of the better episodes of the season. John Pankow was the major guest star.

And then I watched last Thursday's THE OFFICE, a hilarious episode with Dwight assuming storm trooper status investigating the office staff when a joint is found in the parking lot. Really loved this episode.

Good Afternoon!

So...  I left The Palace Theatre around 10:45 Saturday night... Then drove down to DC...  I dropped a friend off who was making the drive down with me...  Then I went ahead and decided to go ahead and make the rest of the drive down to Richmond that night/morning...  I called my friend, Mike - he's a night manager for a hotel - and was able to crash at his place, so...  I drove down to Richmond... Got in around 6:00am...  Ended up sleeping until 4:30 Sunday afternoon...  Headed over to Steve's for some dinner...  Stayed over at Steve's last night...  Headed back up to Fairfax this morning...  Made a stop at my storage unit... Made a stop at IKEA...  And about an hour ago, I met my new niece, Emily Juliet!  :)

-And the weather has been glorious for my two days off so far too!  -Of course, I practically slept through most of yesterday...  ;)

Well, I'm actually in the midst of babysitting - Emily is sleeping right now, so...

I hope everyone is doing well.  VIBES to those who need them.  I should be getting back to my quasi-normal routine of reading and posting and sitting there like so much fish as the week progresses.

I have been trying to find a new Ben & Jerry's flavor--Pineapple sourbet with (I think) a coconut swirl.  Haven't sighted it yet.  Until then, it's me and my Klondike Bars.
