Show went well, the  trio of ladies seems to really be comfortable with each other, and hit some big laughs tonight. Thanks for the vibes, gang!

I'm off (actually, I've always been a little off ;)).  Anyway, the Washington Center for the Performing Arts (where I usher quite often) is having their annual Volunteer Appreciation reception!  We all get together and eat and they announce next year's season.  I can't wait to find out what they're planning. ;D

Oh, I hope you have such a wonderful time! Can't wait to get the news of next season!!!

Anne Bancroft, may she rest in peace, had been a great character woman for the decade before her death.

I'm beginning my trek up your way, tomorrow - Probably stop somewhere north of Sacramento, then visit with you and Keith if you're up for it on Thursday afternoon - you home?

When I got back to the TV, I started up BURNT OFFERINGS again, and since I had about 35 minutes left and knew how it was going to end, I switched over to the commentary to hear Karen Black, Dan Curtis, and the screenwriter (whose name escapes me at the moment) talking about the making of the film. They obviously regard it much more highly than most everyone I know who ever saw it.

Next I put in THE TOWERING INFERNO. The new anamorphic version of it (and THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE) comes out next week, and since I hadn't seen this on the bigger TV, I wanted to see if there was any reason to update (especially since I don't watch this movie very often). I think it looks good enough to just keep what I've got, but I'll continue watching tomorrow to make certain. I only got about 15 minutes into the film if that far.

AMERICAN IDOL tonight - - - -

No one batted both of their songs out of the park tonight. And as far as I was concerned, Paris struck out with both of hers. I disliked the Prince song intensely. The other was better, but her breathing is still atrocious, and her voice nearly cracked near the end of her second song.

The person who came closest to having the best night for me was Taylor. Neither of the songs taxed his abilities much, but he showed two sides to his personality with them and did fine jobs with both.

I was very disappointed with Elliott's "On Broadway." It began too low for him. Once the key changed, he sang some of the higher notes sharp, rare for him (though he did some scat singing at moments that was very enjoyable). I think he must have been more nervous tonight than last week especially since he didn't get good reviews on his first song. "Home," his second song, was much better but still not a showstopper.

Katharine's "Against All Odds" was very poorly sung. Her second song, done while kneeling on the floor, was better but again didn't have much of a taxing vocal for her. I think she may be in trouble.

Chris may be, too. His first song was the best song of the night. The second song showed his voice to be exhausted and raw. He could get away with it being a "rocker," but his telephone line was the least busy of anyone's lines tonight. He could be in trouble, too.

HOUSE had a riveting episode. Omar Epps' character really crossed the line tonight, too, and I was kind of shocked there wasn't a bigger shock from others once they knew what he had done. The show concluded tomorrow night in the timeslot where BONES normally plays.

The amazing Anthony Anderson played Christopher Meloni's new partner tonight on LAW & ORDER: SVU. There was strife, of course, and I knew he was only guest starring. A new female partner is to join him at some point and into next season while Mariska Hargitay is off on maternity leave.

I was doing other things while watching. But I agree with DR MattH that nobody had two good songs.

I really liked Taylor's second song. I haven't cared for him much for a while. But I thought he really sang the song well.

I also liked Paris' Mary J. Blige song (song 2). I love that song and thought Paris stood her own.

I didn't really like katharine's song one. ANd while i thought song two was better, I did not get why she was squatting on the ground.

Didn't really hear chris' number one. But number two was boring.

Elliot didn't really excite me, and i feel like he and paris are probably the least popular ones right now.  But really at this point anyone could go.

I'm not even really sure who i want to leave. I know i don't want it to be katharine.

Back from Rodzinski's show which was a big hit.  I wish I could say that the rest of the 10 minute plays were even half as funny, engaging, or well put together as the one he directed, but I can't so I won't.

I was planning a solo excursion out into the great plains to celebrate my 45th birthday this summer. I mentioned it to my mother and she said "Oh, we should go with you"  now it has become a trip with my parents.  Dad has already gotten out the maps and is making plans. We have already changed the dates to accomodate a luncheon mom wants to go to. It's a different trip than I planned, but it will be fun to go with them for a few days. They are great to travel wtih.  You know you're getting old when your birthday trip includes a stop at Lawrence Welk's birthplace!

Strasburg is his birthplace and it is south-southest of Bismarck...

Dakota, we are going to North Dakota, but now with things planned the way they are, I won't be able to meet you on this trip. Sorry

Another time, another place....

Guess I'll head for bed now, a bit earlier than the last several nights. My body will appreciate that!

Good night!

Back from a looooooong day and evening - the day part went swimmingly - the evening part (still at the post production facility) was one of the most frustrating I can remember - they're still there trying to get our audio mix into the stupid Avid system so they can output our just-about-final video/audio for me to approve.  Ridiculous and annoying and had I known that was going to be the case I could have left at seven.
