DR Ben, thanks mucho for posting the Tony noms.  I can't seem to get too excited about the show nominations--the only thing I manage to see all year was SWEENEY TODD.  But I do find all the other categories interesting--so many terrifically talented peeps.

Last night I watched 24 for the first time ever.  Strangely, Jean Smart's First Lady character kept appearing in my dream.

Did a crazy thing and went out and jogged pre LACC, since I don't think I'll have time later.  I shall now be on my way, after which I shall return.

Some good DVDs coming out this summer...August to be exact...James Stewart's THE FBI STORY and STORM WARNING starring Ronald Reagan, Ginger Rogers, and Doris Day..two of my favorite movies!

I remember as a little kid, waiting for STORM WARNING to start at noon on channel 2's Dialing For Dollars movie...I knew it had Doris and Ginger in it and was certain it would be a colorful, happy musical! Boy was I in for a surprise! LOL!

Speaking only as one who saw the San Francisco production and not the much-revised version now on Broadway, I still have to declare I find it surprising that Carmello would be nominated for featured actress in a musical -- in the role of Gabrielle,  Lestat's mother -- but not Allison Fischer, whose Claudia -- the most haunting creature in the Rice tale -- was the most brilliant and mesmerizing thing about the production I saw.

When Fischer arrived on stage, the show became magical...and her performance was astonishing. I don't doubt Carmello made magic of her own with her material, but to deprive Fischer of a nomination when her turn in this show is so incredible....well, I think something is horribly wrong here.

This morning I went for a walk, and I saw this curved-bill thrasher nestling in the cactus nest:

It is going to be a very long summer -- and not just because of the heat. The political ads for next November's elections have been playing for a month already -- and I can tell the mudslinging will begin soon.

I'd like one of those barbecued thighs, DR MattH...if you have one to spare.

And some tater salad?

Or a devilled egg?

Got any green beans?

They oughta gather up all those alligators and send them back where they came from!

A sad day for 1950s B-movie fans:

Both Paul Marco and Betsy Jones-Moreland have passed away

I met Paul Marco at the Ray Courts show a few years back...he seemed like a very nice guy.

I adored Betsy Jones-Moreland...in recent years she worked a lot with cat rescue groups.

I am eating a banana and thinking about Benjamin Kritzer.  I hope I am eating it more quietly that his older brother did!

Has the ABC line-up come out yet? I know they cancelled HOPE AND FAITH.

I'm happy about CLOSE TO HOME and THE OC.

I'm not even sure if there is anything i watch on ABC other than LOST, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BOSTON LEGAL (btw, the 2 hour season finale is tonight).

Oh re: NBC, did they not announce whatever show REGIS PHILBIN is doing? I didn't notice that on their schedule yesterday.  I know it will be on this summer, and then preceed the APPRENTICE on Sunday nights in January.
