Rodzinski - I know this is hypothetical, but do you get the sense that if your actress friend knew how much the carrot-chomping was bothering DR Jason, she might have stopped doing it?

Not to mention six GUESTS, one of whom is probably BoreDetector.  I feel that soon we will be the most popular site on all the Internet.  Now, what shall I eat?

Can't and won't do Gelson's - every time I get something tiny from their deli, it's fifteen bucks.

Salad might be fun, but from where?

Of course, I use way too much dressing, so salad is probably out.  I could get a burger somewhere, I suppose?

While in Pennsylvania, I found a series of paperbacks that are quite interesting. Anyone familiar wihth Richard Lamparski's "Whatever Became Of..." series? These would be VH1 or ET specials nowadays, but they are fun because many of the people discussed are entirely unknown now. So they are an interesting perspective on history. Learning what people who were famous in the 1920s were doing in the late '60s.  I now have four volumes of these, each with over 100 bios.

Oh, gosh yes I LOVED those books and would eagerly await the next one each time it was released...this was when I was a kid/teen.

I have them all now! Lot's of silent film actors were still around when Lamparski was putting out those books back in the 70s and early 80s.

WE did a TV parody called SALAD in school.  (It was a play on DALLAS.)   A group of wealthy Texans went digging for oil - and vinegar.

Interesting question. Knowing Carrot Girl as I do now, I believe she is a nice person. I think she would have quit chomping. But it is hard to ask somebody to quit something like that. People get offended.

MBarnum, how many volumes are there? In the first two volumes, the type is miniature. I just realized one of my "volumes" is actually the "Giant 2nd Annual." Al Lewis is on the cover of that one. It is from 1977. He lived until last year. Ran for Governor of NY as the Green Party candidate.

Cilliliz your  'strange guy inthe truck" story  reminded me of an incident when I was in my early 20's... A friend and I had met at a local bar and hung out for the evening, when we were ready to go we left in our separate cars .

I noticed that a guy left the bar right as we did and he was going the same way I was, turn for turn.... I got very nervous and did something very stupid, instead of heading for the local police precinct or 7-11 and sitting in the driveway blasting my horn I starting  making  turns willy nilly and the car followed me turn for turn until I was lost in a strange neighborhood well off the beaten track, the car following  me turn for turn.

The last turn brought me into a dead end street.  Scared to death, at this point, I turned into the driveway of the last house on the block.  Well Someone was looking out for me, because there were two guys sitting on the front porch drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. I jumped out of my car ran up to the two guys and said, "That guy is following me, please help me"

and they did.

One guy stayed with me on the porch and the other walked up to the street wheer the other car was attempting to make  a three point turn to get out of the dead end.

He "thanked" the guy inthe car for making sure his "sister" got home alright and then after the car seemed well out of sight they offered to follow me to the nearest highway to make sure the guy was really gone.

Which they did.

Whew!  I hadn' t thought of that in years Cillaliz it had to be 25 years ago.... but sometimes its scary being a woman alone!

Wow, what a crazy story.  I'm glad those guys were there to help you out.
