Thanks! It has been very good. My foot even felt well enough to walk for miles and miles.   That's a first since about February.

I don't think BK willl mind me saying he looks MUCH thinner than he does in the DECEIT dvd.

Good morning!

A bit hotter and a bit stuffier here than yesterday, not to my liking. And other than that light little sprinkle yesterday evening, no rain either.

I just got a call from my friend Hal who's away on vacation but his house sitter has screwed up his HDTV set-up and doesn't know how to bring things right, so I must head over there now to try to right the boat.

Back from my mission of mercy - mission accomplished! Not too much was off, but when one isn't used to fiddling with many buttons and dials in an elaborate set-up, it can be daunting.

Right now, my DVR is recording Mario Lanza's first film THAT MIDNIGHT KISS. I haven't seen this years and years, so I'm looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with it this afternoon.

Afterwards, I really don't know what I'll choose to watch. Possibly Doris Day's special since it's fairly short. And I may get to the fourth disc in the MEDIUM set as well.

Of course, tonight there are new episodes of DEADWOOD (Wyatt Earp arrives), ENTOURAGE, and RENO 911! and a GREY'S ANATOMY rerun which will be new to me.

Glad you enjoyed the cabaret, DR Cillaliz, and thanks for the pic. Nice to here that Panni/Maria was there and is doing fine, too. She is missed.

Good morning, all!  I slept way too late for a trek to Toyland, so I think I will do laundry and tidy up my space.  Beyond that, I don't have many other plans for the day:  I might have a meeting with Klea Blackhurst's conductor about fixes to a chart, and I may escape the heat and go to a movie.  Matthew and I set a tentative date for Tuesday to see LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, and I missed two films I wanted to see last weekend because of my cold.

Then, again, I may stay in all day and avoid the hellish temperatures.  Such a quandary!  Laundry is definite, as long as the power and Con Ed don't fail me.

I have finally given in and hired a man to come clear away the brush and trim trees around my house that have been accumulating for the last 16 years. He's coming this afternoon to get started (a 2-3 day job according to him), and so I need to head down and get started on lunch and put in a load of laundry to be productive myself.

Good Morning!

Well, I managed to sleep until 10:30 today.  Now that's progress!

...Well... Not really, since 10:30 is my "preferred" awakening time.  ;)

However, I did get just under 12 hours of sleep.  Aaaahhhh.

Our power just went off momentarily and came right back on - I was relieved to be able to get back here without my computer being fried.

And which part of town is LACC in? Is it up near Los Feliz?  -I'm just wondering since you had dinner at Cafe Figaro and then dessert at House of Pies.

LACC is indeed just down the street from Cafe Figaro and House of Pies - on Vermont just south of Santa Monica Blvd.  The great thing is that there's a subway stop a half-block from the campus, as well as a subway stop at Sunset for the House of Pies.

Here's a funny thing about the cab business last night.  Cillaliz called Yellow Cab to book her ride back to downtown (not like NY - there are no cabs roaming the LA streets).  She was told that they could give her no ETA as to the cab's arrival.  That was annoying and we had no idea how long we'd be waiting.  The cab arrived thirty seconds later.

Speaking of garlic, the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival is going on right now in the South Bay area.  This festival celebrates garlic in more ways than you can imagine.

Garlic ice cream, anyone?

All pilgarlics who attend should wear hats just in case the UV rays are too strong.

I have been attempting to recover, physiologically, from the effects of the heat wave we had less than one week ago.

It really saps the energy out of you...and I expended a lot more energy trying to stay cool as a result.

I'm still not 100% but I feel much better than I did on Thursday.

I've got bunches of DVDs awaiting my attention...but somehow, choosing just one to watch at a time is causing me all manner of frustration.

My "wants" are to revisit old friends on DVD...and that's frustrating with so many unwatched ones sitting in a pile.

Last night, DH Richard and DS Rob assembled our new Skyline bookcase from Levenger.  It's now in place in the corner, filled with CD's.  Ours is like the darker one in this photo:

Good Afternoon!

Well... I just stepped outside to see what it was like out there right now, and it wasn't that bad.  Yet.  I did just check the forecast, and the high is supposed to hit 90 - it's about 85 now - but the humidity is supposed to relatively low, so that "heat index" will be be low(er) too.  However, over the next three days, temps close to 100 - actual and perceived - are in the forecast.  :-\

Hydrate, people!  Hydrate!

DUH!  That's right!  I used to catch the subway there in order to head over to Hollywood and Vine before walking over to the Hudson for What if?.  ;)
