So, we've got my new toy up and working - an ION USB turntable - got it via Skymall - very inexpensive and in the nick o' time since my turntable is completely shot. This thing plugs directly into your computer. Vinnie came over and set up the software, figured out how to use it, we did a little cheat sheet for me, and I did my first LP this evening, perfectly, I might add. It's a really nice turntable, too, and the CD I made sounds grand. The software allows you to have dead silence between the LP tracks so you don't get that awful noise, and you record one side of an LP on one long track, click pause, then record the other side, still on one long track. Then you smooth out and silence the between tracks, then you put in your track IDs (very simple), then you export all the separate tracks as wav files to your desktop (literally one click), and then you drag those into an iTunes playlist and you're done. I LOVE it.
