Tonight, I take to the stage for a one-night event I've been working on for the last month. It is a bizarre show, and we probably could have used another couple weeks to prepare, but we shall see how it goes. The benefit to it being strange is that if we mess something up, I don't think anyone will know!

Just make it look like it was supposed to be that way!

Tee Off Rodzinski!

For those of you wondering, I said that because his show is called The Golf Wars  ;)

You got it, Ben. (Ben's Ant was actually in our cast for a bit, until illness forced him out.)  I've never had such a trial getting a cast together and healthy.

Different indeed, der B! Utter insanity is another name for it.

Wow!

The clouds have really moved in fast. At lunch, it couldn't have been more beautiful. Three hours later, gray is the order of the day!

Got home in time to watch two programs all the way through and the last half of a third one.

I started with DEXTER. I was riveted from the first moments, especially when it was revealed who was in that trunk (not the ice truck killer as I had assumed). Yes, the brilliance of this show is that the audience is made to identify and root for a serial killer (or at least, I do), and he was in great danger of being identified last night.

Not only that, but I had a sinking dread in my heart for most of the episode as I thought the little boy was going to be Dexter's next victim in order to save himself, and I hated to see that happen. As it turned out, the joke was on me (and I suspect most viewers) once the sketch was revealed.

The cat and mouse relationship between Dexter and the ice truck killer is fascinating. I am SO glad this show has been picked up for another season.

COLD CASE had a very affecting story last night involving 1970s parents (with teenage kids) who decided to become swingers in full view of their kids. Quite a surprising set-up though I guessed the murderer quickly once the entire range of suspects was presented.

I finshed the afternoon watching the last half of one of my favorite LAW & ORDER episodes on TNT-HD. This was the one with the serial killer who had successfully bargained his way into a small sentence for a host of killings and how through some fancy footwork, Carmichael and McCoy were able to turn the tables on him and get a life sentence for him.

The only golf song I can think of is Mr Sondheim's "Pour Le Sport".

I, too, am anxiously awaiting HEROES tonight.

Tonight is also do-or-die for STUDIO 60. If it doesn't rebound from the loss of ratings over its last few airings, I think NBC will pull the plug on the show. And it's got to match (and hopefully outrate) the scores racked up last Monday by FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS in its tryout in this timeslot.

There are songs about Birdies, Eagles and of course "Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac.  "Baby Driver" by Simon & Garfunkel" and "Into the woods".

"Any Old Iron" perhaps.

There is always perennial B'Way favorite - "Fore-Bidden Broadway"

Ant didn't sing Any Old Iron but it was in his British Music Hall revue in 2005.

By Kenneth Jones
November 3, 2006

Peter Dizozza's musical comedy The Golf Wars tees off for one night only Nov. 6 in Manhattan at La Mama E.T.C.'s The Club Theatre.

The satiric piece, with script and songs by Dizozza, was first staged at the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center in Brooklyn as part of the Unity Canvas World Peace Multi-Media Art Exhibit in September 2002. It was revived at the Lamb's Club in Manhattan in January 2003.

This latest incarnation, directed by Tom Nondorf, is timed for presentation on Election Day eve.

Our State holiday today - "Melbourne Cup Day".  Australia's best known Horse Race. It's a Handicap race - which does suggest rather odd entrants!
