According to my Futurama calendar, today is Randy Newman's birthday.  He's 63 years old!  It's also Ed Harris' birthday.  He's 56.

Just had to share. :)

This has been a s-l-o-w day here at work.  Almost time for me to go home - I wonder what DH Richard has up his sleeve for dinner?

Matt H - Have I mentioned too many times that the boy in FALLEN IDOL, Bobby Henrey, grew up to my boss for about four years in the International Tax Consulting Group at Coopers & Lybrand?

If you've mentioned it, it passed by my eyes and detoured around my brain. What kind of boss was he?

Since I cleaned the living room earlier in the day, I am going down now and find some trouble to get into before I start viewing for tonight. The choice of what to watch "live" and what to record is always a fun one to make, and I haven't made it yet.

Matt, in your watching of Superman I hope you saw my buddie's Laurie Mitchell and Diana Darrin in their respective episodes!

Laurie was in the one about the fake spiritualist/fortune teller/magician guy and Diana was in the one where Jimmy has a gangster double.

Both are color episodes.

Very bad news at work today.  One of our floor managers, Reber, is in the hospital and goes into surgery tomorrow, to have a "mass" removed from his colon.

Reber's the sort of fellow who always spreads good cheer, disguised with a salty exterior.  Several customers were asking about how he's doing, but I simply didn't have any information to give them.  He's going to be out for at least a month, more if that mass isn't benign.

And right now, this is the only thing I can think of to do.

There are large fluffy snow flakes falling outside as I type this.
Just keep in mind that, even when they are large and fluffy, snowflakes make lousy house pets.  It's better to keep them outdoors.

Christmas fun in Atlanta:

The Santaland Diaries’

Harold M. Leaver reprises his perennial role as the caustic Crumpet in David Sedaris’ ‘Santaland Diaries.’

der Brucer

"Snarky" AND with "gay overtones" -- most DRs would feel right at home, I'm sure.

Tonight will be a good night to look at some of the recent DVD stuff I've received.

It's a lousy TV night....for ME, at any rate.

I haven't put any Advent stuff up yet in my office,  but here are the framed leaves I put up for autumn. I got these leaves while visiting my sister in Maine:

I almost sent you a box full of colored leaves, including one DR Ginny picked up in Central Park, but I completely forgot to do it once I got home. :(  Glad you had some without me

I'm thinking about going to a seminar in New Orleans in January.  I just really looked at the flyer before leaving home and when I got here there were references to Cafe Du Monde ....hmmm is it a sign?

I don't know why not.  They'd go great with fish-net stockings!

Of course, I already have those! ;D But, even as anachronistic as this show already is without our "reinterpretations," I don't want to wear those shoes any more than I have to. ::)

MattH - Robert Henrey was a great boss.  It's just that when he would call out someone's name to come into his office, it would be reminiscent of him calling out "Baines" in the movie - the same intonation.

Oddly, the first day of my orientation on the job in fall 1983 was the same day that Ralph Richardson's death was in the papers.

Tonight's repast will be roast pork loin and collards and potatoes.

At least, I think I'm doing potatoes.

I received notice today that my Ultimate Collector's Edition of "Superman" has shipped.  It shipped out of Sparks NV, which usually means I'll get it the next day.

I'll keep my hopes held high!

I'm all alone on this here forum right this moment.
