So happy to hear that your show is going well, DR George. Since one doesn't get paid for these performances, it's nice when the audience appreciates what you're doing.

Oh, I hadn't forgotten about the special two-hour THE CLOSER, DR Edi. I fully intend to write numerous reminders tomorrow.

And I plan to watch it "live" and then watch HEROES (recording on the DVR) in the 10 p.m. slot while STUDIO 60 will have to wait until Tuesday to get seen.

Honestly, I had forgotten that THE CLOSER was so "close" upon us. TV GUIDE, which usually comes on Monday for the following week, didn't come until yesterday this week, so I was reminded about THE CLOSER reading it early last evening.

Can't wait to be reuinted with Brenda, Fritz, Sgt. Gabriel, Lts. Provenza and Flynn, and all the others.

And I can't wait for the second season boxed set to be released on DVD so I can relive the entire season again and again.

As for my viewing today, I guess I'll go back to the ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN. There are two discs left in the set.

I still have three of NBC's Thursday night comedies to watch. And tonight, I think there are new episodes of COLD CASE and WITHOUT A TRACE. I know DEXTER is new.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and BROTHERS & SISTERS are reruns, I believe.

I'm trying to figure out how der B is going to handle tomorrow's viewings.

I've a late shift at work, and don't get off until ten.  This requires him to record Heroes, since we both enjoy it.  

He is the Closer fan, I've never been attracted to it (most crime shows bore me), so he can watch that before driving over to pick me up after work.

Which means he'll also want to record Studio 60, to cover his drive time.

It'll be a quick din-din and beddy-bye immediately for myself, once I get home - I turn right around and help open the store at six the next morning!  Yipes!

I almost envy him his enjoyment of Closer this time, by the way.  The guest star is William Daniels, formerly of Boy Meets World, St. Elsewhere, and My Mother the Car Knight Rider.  And 1776, of course.

Good morning, all!  I'm  fighting a cold, which I think was given to me by Mr Tom Murray, who's currently the MD for the new Ahrens-Flaherty musical going up in Pittsburgh in March (?).  We worked on Toyland edits last Tuesday night and he said the cast was all getting colds.  So, it's either his fault or the JetBlue recycled air.  I slept in a bit this morning, and now I'm tackling some of the incidental bits of music.  

I'm happy that my Dear Friend BK liked what he heard yesterday.  I was pleased overall with the sound, and there are things I know I want to adjust as well, especially when I hear it with the staging, but I believe the band is ready for the cast tomorrow and that's a really good thing!

DR JRand56, I'm in the 1700 block of Ogden Drive, but I will try to make some excursions to find the house for you.

What is the most practical Christmas gift you've ever recieved?  

I'd say that the most practical I've ever recieved is the snowshovel that der Brucer gave me a couple of years ago.  Only it hasn't snowed very much since then, which either makes the gift unpractical, after all, or else it has been scaring away the flakes, which makes it practical in ways we hadn't expected.

World Book Encyclopedia, 1963 edition, which my parents gave me for Christmas that year.  The set saw me through junior high, high school, college, and young adulthood until DH Richard and I traded it in for the 1995 edition when our son was 10.  It still sits on the bookcase adjacent to our kitchen dining table and has illuminated many mealtime conversations (and settled a few arguments!)

Most practical Christmas present ever:  On my first assignment in Italy (my first time out of the USA), my parents sent me a Rival Crockpot.  It was Christmas 1973.  I was living by myself -- and cooking for myself --for the first time in my life .

Believe it or not, I still have AND USE that crockpot!

I've been up for quite a while.  I've spent my morning throwing out catalogs (I must have gotten about 90-plus catalogs over the past month), and composing an e-mail to a record label concerning some CDs I've bought of theirs that have bronzed.

I hate it when things that are supposed to last...well...don't.

Last night, I did, indeed, go out.  I made a run to Long's Drugs and nosed around and bought a few pretties.

I then went into one of the larger Safeways (grocery) and nosed around.  Found NOTHING I wanted (which is unusual for me).

Got home, and rearranged a few things so I could put up my tree.  And put it up I did.  For entertainment, I watched a couple of episodes of "Rosemary and Thyme" (a BBC light mystery that combines whodunnit with gardening).  Not a challenging mystery, but pleasant and time-filling.

I then watched "Ugly Betty" which never disappoints.  I'm glad they're pursuing the Christopher Gorham romance with America Ferrera.

DR JRand56, my host told me where 1344 N Ogden Drive is located.  I believe we'll drive past it today and I will throw a rose for you onto the lawn.  Last night I heard the baby next door, and my host Roger tells me it's the great  (great?)grandson of Carole Lombard.

Well, according to IMDB, Lombard had no children so noiw I'm puzzled.  The lady next door is Louise Lombard who's an actress on CSI.  I wonder if she told Roger she's the offspring of Carole?

Laura was being kind. The woodpecker was no doubt screeching at her, demanding peanuts - NOW!

Good afternoon everyone. I had some bizarre burst of energy this morning and ended up emptying 10 boxes of stuff I just haven't gotten around to emptying, lugging 2 book cases upstairs, filling them and getting my laundry done.  There are lots of things to find places for, but they are out of boxes. I'm thinking I'll bring up one more book shelf and will empty all the boxes of books this afternoon.

I'm not quite sure why it's taken me so long to get things unpacked. I think it's just moving all the stuff after selling the lake home and then moving all that and everything in my old house to this house last year was just too much.  It's fun to actually get some of these things out. But I found a bunch of framed photos of Nilla...it almost made me cry

I always seem to get practical Christmas gifts.  My mother has already give me a nice floor lamp for my living room for this year.  I brought it back at Thanksgiving and really love it. I don't get many gifts, so practical ones are fine with me.
