TOD

A few weeks after I had mixed up the entire two blocks of garage door locks, I devised another back alley game:

The women of the block all hung out their laundry to dry on lines stretched across their rear yards. I was fascinated by all the straps and things dangling from the lines. I found a convenient pair of hedge clippers and proceeded to "even up" the laundry (this entailed neatly clipping off all hanging straps, trouser legs, etc.) My Mother noticed me out of the kitchen window, but was terrified that the neighbors might notice if she called out for me to stop. I was able to complete my task undetected.

I was not embarrassed.

I think my Mother's emotion was a little more than embarrassed.

We moved from the city to the country shortly there after.

Well, gas man has come and gone....turns out I did indeed have a natural gas leak...in fact it was quite a big leak the guy said...he told me that whoever installed the new heater put on a broken thingamjig which was connected to the whatchamicallit which was causing gas to spew out all under my house for these last 10 months. Fortunately, he said, my underneat the house part is well ventilated and that is why my home didn't blow up. See there is always a silver lining.

I must call the heater company and have them fix their error as per the gas man's instructions. In the meantime he has turned off the gas so it will be a bit chilly for awhile.

Couldn't he fix it with a doohickey?

Can you get a refund for the amount of gas that leaked??  I mean, over 10 months time, that's a lot of gas!

George, will the troubles with Mt. St. Helen affect you?

I don't know, but I don't think so...at least, I hope not! :-\

I would hope!

An internet search suggests that inhalation of small quantities of natural gas is not toxic - but there are are nut-jobs suing the gas companies becasue gas leaks caused their epilepsy, ADD, and TLPPS (Tiny Limp Pee-Pee Syndrome).
