I shall shortly be on my way to record a cast album, after which, I shall return.  Keep the home fries burning.

I wonder if edisaurus is looking for an extremely low-paying gig editing a brand new musical comedy videotape?

Re:  the missing Mt. Hood climbers.  OK, this is no doubt going to raise some hackles, but I have relatively little sympathy for these people.  First of all, there were extremely well-publicized winter storm warnings in effect, given to all climbers when they apply for their permit.  Second and most importantly, these "experienced pro's" were too macho to spring the extra $5 (FIVE DOLLARS!!!!) to carry along a locater transponder device which would have pinpointed their location immediately.

Call me the Grinch, but I similarly had little sympathy for the ill-fated Kim family, who with two small children in the car decided to get off I-5 and take a logging road (LOGGING ROAD) with clearly marked signs saying it was IMPASSIBLE in the winter and then, even worse, got off that onto a spur road (oy!), and then got stuck for 9 days.

Use your G-d given brains, people!!!

It's hard to argue with your logic, but for some reason I was still glued to the set yesterday, hoping to have them found alive....

Well, I booked myself a nice massage for 11 Ayem, then my sibs are taking me to lunch, then we go say Happy Birthday to my dear departed daddy at the cemetary - it's his birthday, too... then I pack for the coming jaunt to WA to bring some of my musical instruments down, and some sheet music, and my nephew's gun... then friend Bill will take me for a birthday dinner - egad, more food! - after last night's hannukah party at my sister Tami's howse, after yet-another holiday party the night before with my sister Rikki... yipes. More food??? Holy metabolism, batman!

Yeah, Happy Birthday to Dan-the-Man who shares this natal day.

Have fun in the studio, show folk! Wish I were there...

Cilla - I also really enjoy the score to TUSCALOOSA'S CALLING ME... - I even find myself humming "Everything You Hate is Right Here" when I have those NYC type experiences that can be frustrating :) , and "New York from the Air" is one of those songs I just start thinking about every now and then.  I think it was an off-Broadway success in its time, even with reports of a planned move to Broadway which never materialized, but somehow never got a major revival.

I just got a call from my supervisor saying that the power to our building at work has been out since 6:00 a.m.!!  It was on this weekend and they don't know what happened.  They'll make a decision at 11:00 a.m., as to whether or not to stay open or close the building for the day...again.  I could have another day off, but this time, my house won't be freezing cold! ;)

I saw that show and loved every minute of it.  It has two of the most beautiful New York songs ever written.

Guilty Pleasure Cast Albums:
   Whoop Up
   Dance a Little Closer
   Windy City

I have all of these, but I haven't listened to Windy City in a long time.  I don't remember if I like it or not.  I really do like both Whoop-Up and Close a Little Faster. ;)

The album only about a half hour long!  Do you happen to remember how long the show itself was?  Were there (m)any more songs or was the rest of it made up of skits?

Well...since work is only one street down, I suppose I should head in just to see what's going on.  I'll get lunch first, then be there by 11:00 to see if I need to stay.  I hope I don't because I won't have to use my vacation time to not work.  It's "Emergency Leave" and that decision is made by the head of the building.  We'll see!

Guilty pleasure soundtracks:

Years and years ago when I was in high school Mr. Albert Glasser, who did the music for many low budget films of the 50s, sent me the entire music to ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE, which I cherish. It has all the music and all the songs and even the errors, all from his original tapes.

Also, I am crazy about the soundtrack from the recent Bollywood film LAKEER. The movie was so-so but the songs are fantastic and I never tire of listening to them (or watching the picturizations of them from the movie).
