I am expecting some Blu-ray discs this afternoon in the mail. If they don't come, however, I will watch BEST FOOT FORWARD. I'm hoping it looks at least as good as the DVD-R I burned from a TCM broadcast. It looked very colorful. Warners should have been able to do a fine job with this movie.

Tuesday morning greetings!

....Hmm...  To shop or not to shop. ???

You know you want to, DR Jose - go for it!  And, may I add my "welcome back."

I've already been shopping this morning, but from the comfort of my own home in my robe and bunny slippers.  My mom gave each of us an L. L. Bean gift card and I just spent mine online.  From the printed catalogs, I'd picked out several choices and when I got online one of them was drastically reduced in price.  So, Mom bought me the other item and I threw in the sale item for myself.

Resolved - to give up Good Intentions.

...And Thanks for all the "Welcome Backs".  It's very nice to know that I was missed - and discussed.  I've missed all of you too.

Don't forget:  DR MBarnum owes you bigtime for the return!

As for resolutions, I might make them but if I keep them, fine.  If I don't , I don't stress over it.  One can only do what one can.

If I was going to make one for the next year, it would be the usual "lose some weight one".

You guys have no idea as to how much weight I've gained since you last saw me.  I know the reason is that I sit to much.  When Bear and Brandi were young, I used to go on long walks.  I know Sheena wouldn't mind walking but Bear is way to old for it.

The last time I took him, I was afraid we wouldn't make it home.  He would lay down every time we crossed a street and was having a harder time getting up each time.  I knew he couldn't go any more.  That's one of the reasons I started to take them to the dog park.

I keep a sharp eye on him and when he gets tired, we leave.

I really do need to get a treadmill for myself.  The problem being--where would I put it?  I have no room in the house for it and it can't sit outside if it is an electric one.  I think the roof is the only flat spot with noting on it.  The roof----hummm----- ;D ;)

I like to make resolutions each new year. Some I keep and some I don't, but I do try and it is nice to have a goal of some sort.

My last day off and it's still overcast with rain.  The Weather Bug says it will be sunny this afternoon.  I hope so.

It didn't get as cold as they said it would last night.  We're at 57 degrees right now.

I only real resolution I can recall being serious about keeping  happened when the first local production of A CHORUS LINE was announced. I had gotten about 30 pounds overweight in the 6 1/2 year sabbatical I had taken from doing theater, and I resolved to lose that excess weight to be able to do the arduous dance auditions I knew were upcoming. And I did lose the weight, and I got in the show, so there was a great feeling of accomplishment about that.

DR JENNIFER - great story about your shopping bargains.  Isn't it wonderful when things work out that way.

DR JOSE should be encouraged by your shopping luck.

TOD:

On New Year's Eve, I always just think about where I am and where I was last year, and count the BETTER places or things I have.  If I have some, I pronounce my year a success.

I think 2006 will be the same!

JRand - That's a lovely thought.  I think I'll do that this year.  I can already think of some of those (some even having to do with HHW!)  Thanks!

My aunt and uncle are coming over for lunch in a few minutes.  More turkey, dressing, asparagus souffle, etc., etc.,

I've packed my bag and weighed it, and I am JUST at 50 lbs.

Since I "have" to go back, I'm rather looking forward to my return to Oakland.  Yet, I'll have to admit I'd love to buy a house, locally, and live in this area.

Jose's tale of the ER reminded me of this:

WIKIPEDIA

Quote
In the 11th episode of the first season of the TV show Scrubs, a parody relates the reasons why doctors try to avoid being on-call on Christmas eve:

12 beaten children
11 drive-by shootings
10 frozen homeless
9 amputations
8 burn victims
7 strangled shoppers
6 random knifings
5 suicides
4 beaten wives
3 ODs
2 shattered skulls
and a drunk who drove into a tree

All my gifts are my favorites...except I was really looking forward to the latest batch of "state quarters" (the ones that are in "color").  They will continue, apparently, until 2009 when my collection will be complete.

I've been getting the proof coin sets.  It's pretty cool.  Except that the coins from the first couple of years have started to tarnish! :o They're supposedly sealed in plastic display containers and the coins are turning colors!  What's up with that??

Casey and the strawberry blonde did a BRICOLAGE waltz not very long ago.

The only way they could improve upon their first attempt would be to make it BRICOLARGER, and the dance floor is only so big to begin with.

I'm up, I'm up.  Slept well and had my favorite dream - where I suddenly find myself back in the LA of old.  The "old" veers wildly from moment to moment.  This particular time I was with people (can't remember who) and driving.  First we were on Melrose and there was a movie theater there called The Melrose (I think there WAS a movie theater called the Melrose near LACC, but this wasn't that), and I thought, wow, there's not even a trace of that building anymore.  Then we turned down a side street that wasn't even a street yet and Beverly Blvd. which should have been the next major street, wasn't even there.

Then it was the usual trying to visit the old house and maybe even see the young me.  It never happens for various reasons.  This time around I had the brilliant idea to go eat at my father's restaurant but that never happened either.
