Thanks to DR MusicGuy for asking BK about the track listing for the Wonderful Guy CD.  And thanks to BK for posting it last night.  I've printed it and made an insert for my jewel case!

I don't think I've seen ten movies this year, either.  Of the ones I did see and liked:

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (Though I still detest that final shot of Streep in the limo with the wistful smile on her face.)
THE ILLUSIONIST
THE QUEEN
A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION

I've yet to see DREAMGIRLS--probably won't get to that until after New Year's Day.

I didn't see very many 2006 movies...and of those I did see nothing stands out as anything I would put in a top 10...maybe DOSTI, FRIENDS FOREVER...it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I saw several wonderful films from 2005 in 2006, however.

So....I guess I have no answer for the TOD. LOL!

I really enjoyed your review of BLACK DAHLIA, BK. Strangely enough, it made me want to see the film. I have no doubt that all of your comments were warranted.

A special welcome to new Dear Reader Missmikah.  You will find that this Living Room is filled with a wonderful assortment of folks of every variety, shape, kind, ethnicity, religion, orientation, persuasion, height, weight, and geographical locale !

I don't think I've left anything out.....  but I'm sure any other DRs here will add to the list.

You omitted the halt, the lame, and the maimed.

Hi DR Jeffrey MK ..... when you have a minute, I'd enjoy finding out about the significance of the "Kaufmann building" in your photo, and the other 3 folks in the picture with you.  You can do it offline if you want to.  Thanks..........

Hi, MusicGuy--the building in question is the Gen. M.B. Kauffman Building at historic Ft. Douglas in Salt Lake City.  My father was the Senior Officer there for over 40 years and saved the Fort from destruction in the early 70s.  At the same time he founded the Ft. Douglas Military Museum, which is housed in the building named after him.  The Military Museum is one of the largest in the US and one of the few (surprisingly) that devotes exhibits to all branches of the armed services.  It's right in the middle of a gigantic multi-million dollar capital campaign which will expand it to a completely huge and remodeled facility, still named after my father.

The other people in the photo would be DW Betsy and DS's Gabe and Zach.  The fourth "person" is my formerly fat belly which has seen a sizeable reduction this past year.  :)

Re:  Newman and Warners.  This would have been around 1962, I'm quite sure of it, JR, and for some reason Fox is sticking in my memory, so I think it was that studio.  My sisters don't remember anything other than Paul Newman.  :)

TOD:

Films I enjoyed this year:
MRS HENDERSON PRESENTS
WALK THE LINE
GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK
KINKY BOOTS
THE ILLUSIONIST

My favorite:
THE ILLUSIONIST

Most disappointing:
Probably BOYNTON BEACH CLUB, but there were several contenders.

In THE FILMS OF 20th CENTURY-FOX, there was no listing for MOLLIE in 1961 or 1962, and it wasn't listed in the index at all, but that volume may not be all inclusive.

Yes, MattH, that's because it was never made (as I stated in my first post).  The book was optioned and Newman was attached to star.  I'm 99% sure Fox called my Dad and actually paid him some relatively tidy sum to be on "retainer" as a technical consultant, but then the project was shelved for some reason.  I'm just trying to figure out if my memory of the studio being Fox is correct.

And I didn't read ANY good reviews for THE BLACK DAHLIA, and it certainly sank like a stone at the box-office.

I remember Hartnet and Swank receiving particularly scathing reviews. Unless Swank is playing a tomboy, she usually doesn't fare too well. I've had to watch the trailer for her new film premiering in January a couple of times over the last few days (about a  teacher struggling against gangs in her school), and it doesn't appeal to me either.

Heading down now to fix up a simple lunch (I have a gift exchange dinner party tonight), and then settle in with either saome DVDs or one of those HBO-HD movies I recorded.

DR Jeanne, from movies which were released in 2005 (most of which I saw in 2006) were GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, TRANSAMERICA, and HOODWINKED, MY BROTHER NIKHIL, KAAL.... Those are the ones that come to mind.

And the word of the day is: CORMORANT!
Casey would not waltz
With a strawberry blonde...
In honor of a visiting CORMORANT
They instead danced the shag!

The fourth being Diet Coke.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

Hmm... Is it nap time already?...

I slept very lightly last night... Every time the heat went on, it would wake me up.  So... I guess I was waking up every 20 minutes or so.  I finally got some sound sleep around 5:00, I believe.  -And, of course, just as I was turning off the TV, the news broke about Gerald Ford's death, so...  In any case...

Good morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm watching a movie with Isabella Rosellini and Aidan Quinn called "Lies of the Twins". It's trashy but I feel compelled to see how it turns out.
So, Isabella and Aidan are good friends of yours, or did they just drop by?

Well, it's random. I'm hooked on bk's compilation CDs...I'm a performer and started listening to them for material, and I just turned into a huge fan. I just found this place today.

That's as good a reason to join in the fun!  I hope you visit often.
