Great lyrics. Thanks to all.

The sun comes up: I think about you
The coffee cup: I think about you
I want you so
It's like I'm losing my mind

Yes, I read the article about the huge Sharp LCD. Their 60" model costs $11,000. They didn't even put a price tag on this thing!

I didn't know what time it was,
Then I met you.
Oh, what a lovely time it was;
How sublime it was, too!

Speaking of HDTV, I will be trading up to a larger screen and 1080p resolution this year, but probably not until summer.

New episodes of the LAW & ORDERs tonight as well as HOUSE and BOSTON LEGAL.

I love having new television episodes to watch.

However, since the first of them doesn't come on until 9, I should have time to watch NANNY MCPHEE today and maybe THE MATADOR, too. We'll see. What I watch will also depend on what comes in the mail today, if anything.

Great song lyrics from DR GINNY and DR MATTH!

Yes, DRJOSE, planning is the key....but one never knows what one will discover at IKEA....

I don't shop there because I can't put it together!  (a sort of Sondheim reference)

Give 'em the old double whammy
Daze and dizzy 'em
Back since the days of old Methuselah
Everyone loves the big bambooz-a-ler
Give 'em the old three ring curcus
Stun and stagger 'em
When you're in tourble, go into your dance
Though you're stiffer than a girder
They'll let you get away with murder
Razzle dazzle 'em

oops, typo in my song lyric:
that should be when you're in "trouble," not "tourble" (although it might help to dance if you're in that, too!)

He went and got a rap
He had a lot of 'em climbing trees
Though he only weighed a hundred in his BVDs

Oh, New Jersey, Oh, New Jersey
It's a land we proudly hail
You will bellow like an oxen
For a shot of antitoxin
When you're riding through New Jersey on a rail

Daisy, Daisy
Tell me all you know
Every time I pluck a petal
Secrets you can show
Daisy Daisy
Tell me all you see
There's a question you can settle
Does the one I love love me?

I'm on a PG Wodehouse roll this morning!

AH, elmore, you're back on.  Now, are you happy? -- I'm posting!  Like I said, you'll rue the day you encouraged me.....if I get on a roll, no one will be able to get a post in edgewise....but no time to roll today, gotta get ready for the marketing meeting of the civic theatre I've been telling you about.  Elmore later!

I am dejected,
I am depressed,
Yet ressurected
And riding the crest.
Why this elation,
Mixed with deflation?
What explanation,
I am in love!

Such conflicting questions ride
Around in my brain,
Should I order cyanide
Or order champagne?
Oh, what is this sudden jolt?
I feel like a frightened colt,
Just hit by a thunderbolt,
I am in love!
I knew the odds
Were against me before.
I had no flair
For flaming desire,
But since the gods
Gave me you to adore,
I may lose
But I refuse to fight the fire!
So come and enlighten my days
And never depart.
You only can brighten the blaze
That burns in my heart.
For I am wildly in love with you,
And so in need of a stampede of
Love!

--Cole Porter--

Yeah, yeah, I know.  We're not supposed to do whole lyrics, but this one is just so perfect in every delicious way.

Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon River and me.

Would love to hear a Guy Haines version of this.

The fire will dwindle into glowing ashes,
For flames and love live such a little while.
I won't forget,
But I won't be lonely,
I'll remember April,
And I'll smile.

-- I'll Rember April--

Time is so old
And love so brief.
Love is pure gold
And time a thief.

--Speak Low--

You're right out of a book,
The fairy tale I read when I was so high.
No armoured knight out of a book
Was more enchanted by a Lorelei
Than I.

-- Out Of This World--

Your lips were like a red and ruby chalice,
Warmer than the summer night.
The clouds were like an alabaster palace
rising to a snowy height.
Each star its own aurora borealis,
Suddenly you held me tight.
I could see the midnight sun.

--Midnight Sun--

It's a sure sure sign
Sometimes friends begin to mock you
In a manner that would shock you
It's a sure sure sign
Someone's got your reputation
Mixed up in their conversation
Though they started saying lovely things about you
They have finally decided you're a "shine"
And before the earburn ceases
They'll be tearing you to pieces
It's a sure sure sign

From the depths of her interior
Were fears she was inferior
And something even eerier
But no one dared to query 'er
Superior exterior

YES! YES! YES! One of my favorite Sondheim songs. Does it get any better than this?

SPOKEN:
I know what you must be saying to yourselves.
If that's the way she feels about it why doesn't she just end it all?
Oh, no. Not me. I'm in no hurry for that final disappointment.
For I know just as well as I'm standing here talking to you, when that final moment comes and I'm breathing my lst breath, I'll be saying to myself,

SUNG:
Is that all there is, is that all there is
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Let's break out the booze and have a ball
If that's all there is

I won't send roses
Or hold the door
I won't remember
Which dress you wore
My heart is too much in control
The lack of romance in my soul
Will turn you grey, kid
So stay away, kid
Forget my shoulder
When you're in need
Forgetting birthdays
Is guaranteed
And should I love you, you would be
The last to know
I won't send roses
And roses suit you so

For the "Ugly Duckling" turning into a swan fans:

See that fascinating creature
With perfection stamped on ev'ry feature
She was plain little nellie
The kid from the deli
But Mother of God, look what happened to Mabel!

For that masochistic bent that ensues with each heartbreak:

So make the moments fly
Autumn
Winter
I'll forget you by
Next year
Some year
Though it's hell that I'm going through
Some Tuesday
Thursday
April August
Autumn winter
Next year
Some year
Time heals everything
Time heals everything
But loving you!

I can dance a tango,
I can read Greek-
Easy

I can slay a dragon
Any old week-
Easy.

What's hard is simple.
What's natural comes hard.

Maybe you could show me
How to let go,
Lower my guard,
Learn to be free.

Maybe if you whistle,
Whistle for me.

All the sad young men
Sitting in the bars,
Knowing neon lights,
Missing all the stars.
All the sad young men,
Drifting through the town,
Drinking up the night,
Trying not to drown.

--Ballad of the Sad Young Men--

I have a feeling that beneath the little halo
on your noble head
There lies a thought or two the devil might
be interested to know.
You're like the finish of a novel that I'll
fin'lly have to take to bed,
You fascinate me so!

--You Fascinate Me So--

The sun is swimmin' on the rim of a hill,
The moon is takin' a header

--Surrey With The Fringe On Top--

Don't put your daughter on the stage,
Mrs. Worthington,
Don't put your daughter on the stage.
She's a bit of an ugly duckling
You must honestly confess,
And the width of her seat
Would surely defeat
Her chances of success.
It's a loud voice, and though it's not exactly flat,
She'll need a little more than that
To earn a living wage.

--Don't Put Your Daughter On The Stage, Mrs. Worthington--

You go to my head
With a smile that makes my temp'rature rise,
Like a summer with a thousand julys
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes.

--You Go To My Head--

As the days go by,
I keep thinking, "When does it end?
Where's the day I'll have started forgetting?"
But I just go on
Thinking and sweating
And cursing and crying
And turning and reaching
And waking and dying
And no,
Not a day goes by,
Not a blessed day
But you're still somehow part of my life
And you won't go away.

(To the tune of Berlin's "They Wouldn't Believe Me")

And when they ask us, how dangerous it was,
Oh, we'll never tell them, no, we'll never tell them:
We spent our pay in some cafe,
And fought wild women night and day,
'Twas the cushiest job we ever had.

And when they ask us, and they're certainly going to ask us,
The reason why we didn't win the Croix de Guerre,
Oh, we'll never tell them, oh, we'll never tell them
There was a front, but damned if we knew where
