I wish it would snow here in Philly.  Just a little, just to make it look magical.

When snow was incorrectly not predicted, Tom Snyder said about Frank Field's forecast of partly cloudy:  Well, this morning, I walked out of my building and stepped into three inches of partly cloudy.

If it wasn't so cold out, I'd bundle up and go for a late night walk in the snow.  I love it before everything is shoveled when it's white and quiet and beautiful

Well, I think I'll go get some sleep. I'm glad I have tomorrow off. There will be snowblowing to do in the morning.

Is John Bolaris still the weatherman at one of the NYC local channels?  Oy--the stories I could tell you about him!

I remember one of our local weatherman reporting on a hailstorm south of town, where "Tyrone was reporting egg-sized hens". That made me laugh!

Mine expired a couple of days ago...I totally forgot about it. :-\

Personal Shopping Day? or Holiday Rewards Accrual?

Personal Shopping Days expire at the end of the month, but you can redeem your Holiday Savings reward until January 31.

I checked my e-mail and it actually was my December Personal Shopping Day that I was thinking about...that's what had expired.  I only signed up for this a couple of months ago, so I don't really know too much about it, yet.

Our film is showing in Philly on Groundhog Day---at Drexel University.

Have you registered your card/account at Borders.com?  Once you do, you can get a pretty detailed account of your account activity.

*I have to say I was kind of frightened by how much I had spent in December.  I mean if my holiday savings accrual was equal to 5% of my spending...

I have registered on-line, but it's still so new to me that I haven't gotten used to what all the benefits are.  One problem is that I work for a library and I don't buy many books for myself.  I can check out all I want and quite often suggest titles that the library should purchase.

It is, allegedly, Fahrenheit 28 degrees here in Oakland "right now."

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I, of course, knew naught of this as I have a mattress warmer that allowed me toasty comfort all through the night.

I do have my thermostats set on 70...and the house feels much as it does on winter days when I have it set on 60.

I had -20 this morning.. Oakland was 48 degrees warmer than me..

Using a hair dryer on the pipes after they freeze can help speed the thawing process.  A portable heater also works.

You want to be careful with heaters...

Houses have started on fire here with people using heaters and blowtorches to thaw pipes.

DerBrucer-I remember ice storms like that in Michigan-BREATHTAKING!

DakotaCelt-I went to the webcam & Keith yelled at me to turn the volume down.  ;D I will have to check it out at various times of the day.

It is interesting...

I have seen wildebeast, lions, giraffes, hyenas, and gazelles...

But before I go, here's an excerpt from this essay in today's/yesterday's/Sunday's New York Times:
