I love breakfast. My usual breakfast at home is oatmeal with added oat bran.

My favorite breakfasts I've had are:
DuPar's pancakes

Miss Doughnuts and Bagels in La Verne, CA -- I like the veggie omelet bagel sandwich.

The Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd -- I like the veggie omelet.

I gave up breakfast meats years ago -- the first time I failed my cholesterol test.

My regular breakfast these days is pretty pedestrian--a bowl of Cheerios with a banana and a half glass of orange juice.  It's enough to keep me going until lunch.

I do miss my mid-morning bagel and cream cheese.  Now I just get an apple it they look decent at the little newsshop in the lobby of our building.

As for the Topic of the Day...

My favorite at-home breakfast: Cheddar cheese omelet*, thick-cut pepper bacon, rye toast.  *A couple of years ago, I was experimenting and came up with a "crispy" cheese omelet.  I start off with the cheese in the pan - a non-stick pan - and let it cook/fry gently until it crisps up, then I pour in the eggs.  YUM!

Favorite diner breakfast - Corned beef hash, two eggs (over easy), biscuits.  -Although, good corned beef hash is hard to  find.  -Alas, the worst corned beef I had was at The (beloved) House of Pies.  They used the canned stuff - which is OK - but they microwaved/steamed it.  It actually came to the table runny.  :-\  Best corned beef hash: 3rd Street Diner in Richmond, VA, and/or Good Enough To Eat here in NYC.

Other favorite breakfasts: French Toast, Pumpkin Bread French Toast, Challah French Toast, Cream-cheese and Peaches Stuffed French Toast, etc., etc.  Pancakes and waffles too.

I also like the "bacon, egg and cheese on a bun" sandwiches which are sold all over NYC.  And they usually only cost a buck or two - and you get coffee too!

And I have to say, the weather men and women have had some very inconsistent forecasts the past couple of days.  Yes, they're all agreeing that it's cold, and that it will get colder.  However, according to the report I heard last night before going to bed, I was expecting to wake up to one to three inches of snow on the ground.  But there were just a few flurries.  And now they're saying we may get a few "snow blasts" today.

Tonight and tomorrow is being forecasted as the coldest night and day in two years - we're not getting out of the uppers teens.  And, of course, my friend, Paul, is coming up from Florida for the weekend...  And the last time he was in NYC was two years ago... on the previous coldest night.

-Maybe he needs to stay in Florida.  ;)

And this morning's breakfast...

A bowl of cereal with soy milk, and a cup of green tea.

*Steve really enjoys a good restaurant/diner breakfast, so I'm "saving" up for next week when he's up here.

My usual breakfast (like some others) is a bowl of oatmeal with raisins. I put something else in also, either Trader Joe's freeze-dried strawberries or blueberries or a banana. I also have a cup of black coffee.

I was speaking to my friend from Gedling because she called to check about the weather. Even though it gets cold in England, it's unfortunate that tomorrow when she and friends plan a touristy day in NY will be the coldest day of winter so far. It's supposed to jump up to the high 30s on Saturday and Sunday but we will be indoors laughing and eating and drinking. Oh, well. We can go into the back yard if we want fresh air.

And the word of the day is: SUSURRUS!
Casey would waltz
With a strawberry blonde,
But without a band,
The only sound being the SUSURRUS of her chiffon gown
And the light patter of their feet.

500 posts ago Bruce was annoyed that his water was frozen
His annoyance is nothing compared to what will be heard nationwide when the fruits of said freeze fail to come to market!  I'm already hearing grumbling from the shoppers.

Oh, all this talk about food! It's enough to make me hungry--and I just ate! Yes, I had my usual oh-so-virtuous green drink with protein powder--quick, easy, nutritious, and usually sipped while I'm reading my email (bad habit, but who has the time?). Unlike BK, I eat three meals a day, so I take time to enjoy lunch or dinner. Now, if I HAD the time, Belgian waffles or eggs and potatoes would probably be my choice. And I do love fresh-squeezed OJ. And fresh grapefruit.

The best breakfasts I've ever had were in Munich, as part of the hotel where we stayed was a very good restaurant.  They served the very best pastries, the very best charcuterie, and the very best coffee.

Yummers!!!   :D

Good morning!

Another absolutely beautiful morning here, but again, it's January and thus very cold. Not supposed to get out of the 40s today, typical for this time of year.

Sounds like mine: bowl of organiz flax and oatmeal with dried cranberries and Georgia pecans. That's for the weekdays. The weekends I'm with my DH and we usually go out. I love to cook big brunches for friends. Can't wait until we have a house with a real kitchen!

I love breakfast food but not in the morning. I really have next to no appetite in the morning and never have. My mother would fix big breakfasts for my father and brother when I was growing up, but it was all I could do to force down a few bites or toast or a doughnut in the morning.

But I love having breakfast food for supper. Scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, sausage, or Canadian bacon, grits with heaps of real butter, and orange juice. I can't think of a better meal.

Yes, I like all the other things folks noramlly fix, too: waffles, French toast, omelettes; I even like poached eggs.

I just can't eat this stuff early in the morning. I have no taste for any of it until later in the day.

Several years ago, I was dating a guy in Hendersonville, NC, about 2 1/2 hours from here in the NC mountains. One Sunday morning, as I was heading out of town after a visit, he took me to Denny's. I always think of Denny's as having perfectly fine but rather generic food.

Well, it was 11 o'clock or maybe a little later, but he ordered this huge breakfast combo for me. I remember it had scrambled eggs, grits, Canadian bacon, popovers with homemade strawberry jam. That was undoubtedly the best breakfast I have ever eaten.

Tonight, UGLY BETTY and the NBC comedy lineup are reruns, but there are new episodes of GREY'S ANATOMY, SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL, and CSI so there's still plenty to watch.

I also like breakfast foods later in the day.  Breakfast these days is normally coffee and oatmeal, but of course, I more than make up for the missed calories later in the day.

Other than some great breakfasts here at home, though, best breakfast at a resturant-type place was at Cinderella's Castle at Disney World.  Although in all honesty, I'd been awake since 7 am and was treating the 10:30 am meal (which everyone else was treating as breakfast) as my lunch.  All sorts of courses kept coming as they only can at Disney, with Disney characters abounding since we had a three-year-old as part of our party.
