My favorite song from a show that didn't make it is "Makin' It" sung by David Naughton.  It didn't become a hit song until several years later, though, IIRC.

I loved that song!  I always thought that David Naughton was really cute, too. ;)

I can also tell you that January 2007, even with a few days to go is already our most successful posting month in the history of haineshisway.com.  We smashed our previous record, which was March of 2006 - the highest before that was January of 2005.  In January of 2005 we had the astounding feat of about 9100 posts for that month.  Then, in March of 2006 we had a more astounding 9800 posts.  For this month, if we haven't already we'll soon be passing the 10,000 mark.

ALW was the judge on the UK's "Sound Of Music" reality/audition show.

I think he was actually the producer of the stage show, so David Ian is his equivalent.

I had the EXACT opposite opinion of the Dannys and Sandys on GREASE tonight. I saw at least three Dannys who impressed me enough to be able to do the show proud. I didn't flip over any of the Sandys. Juliana was by far the strongest vocalist, but she didn't exhibit nearly as much personality on stage while singing as a couple of the others. If I had to pick a Sandy, I'd go with Laura who had Sandy's sweetness and charm and a pleasant voice.

I thought Austin sang and performed the other Dannys into the ground, but he reminds me a little of Harry Connick in the face. I thought Chad had a decent enough voice and also took command of the stage during his number. Jason and Max both had fine vocals, too.

We need to get word to Alton that he can blame you, in return.
Edi, can you make the contact?

Yes---I just drove by his house on my way home from our second birthday celebration with some friends and see that he's in town. (His house is all lit up.)

The last time I saw Alton, we were all eating brownies at these same friends' house. We decided to call them "Alton Brownies" in his honor.

And how many knife safes do you have?

No knife safes in this house!

However, when we move and I start cooking, I wouldn't rule it out!

I think I'll go throw away my knife block now...

But what a STUPID decision to bring back Matt and Ashley A. They cut them for a good reason: their voices are far too weak to be able to sing the leads in this show and they have ZERO stage presence. Neither could EVER pull it off at this level with the amount of time they'd have. (Honestly, I'm not sure they would do much at community theater level.)  Not only that, they just aren't used to performing in front of an audience. When one looked at Austin or Kate and the ease and confidence with which they took the stage, Ashley and Matt's limitations were just brazenly obvious.

It's a nice dream to think an unknown, untapped talent could waltz his or her way into the lead of a Broadway show, but the truth is that it takes YEARS of training to be able to pull off the effortlessness that impresses an audience paying Broadway prices.

ROME had a violent outing, and a sad dissolution of the Pullo-Vorenus friendship. Except knowing the good man that Pullo is, he could never walk away from his dear friend. Looking forward to upcoming episodes.

Although, if you've been craving butter, "Last Tango in Paris" will undoubtedly help curb those cravings.

LOL! I was going to say that you will never eat butter again!

CROSSING JORDAN had a race riot storyline tonight and a goodbye to one of the regulars. It wasn't whom I was expecting to leave.

Der B, you need to buy my friend Danny's book: "The Moster Who Ate My Peas":

http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Who-Ate-My-Peas/dp/1561452165/sr=8-1/qid=1170045270/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-4016411-5341524?ie=UTF8&s=books

Sorry for the long link--I could not snip it.

Greg hates peas, too.

Edi, if you have a very long link, put it in between (url) and (/url)  but use brackets "[" and "]" instead of "(" and ")" and don't put in any spaces.  I fixed it in the quote above. :)

Yep. I recorded the show while watching other shows, and then watched the two hour SAG awards in 25 minutes.

I've been busy putting tunes in my iPod so I can try out my new docking station. I never use the iPod, I'm not fond of earbuds or headphones, so I'm looking forward to this docking station.

I can't get the earbuds to stay in my ears!

Speaking of Connick's similarity to Austin Miller, remember that Kathleen Marshall had pretty much her (deserved, IMHO) greatest Broadway triumph so far with Mr. Connick in PAJAMA GAME.

Many repeats from the GOlden Globe winners, but there were a couple of differences. Won't give the winners but you can look for these different winners in their various categories:

Drama TV Actress

Comedy Series ensemble

Motion Picture ensemble (in other words, Best Picture)

Acting four months?  I cannot stomach this stuff.  I hired her when she was still in high school.  She's toured in a Broadway show, and done some regional productions of big shows.  I wonder if she's taken down all those photos from her myspace page.

Actually, it says "Acting:  4 months" under "Training," so she probably took a few classes but then got the jobs and learned a lot by doing and is probably quite the natural, anyway.  So it's more of a sin of omission than actual lying.

And she picked Austin as her favorite Danny of the night. So did I.
