Sherlock is sound asleep.  We had a an extra nice hike today.  He was very excited to see his good friend Maia, a 9 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, who happened to be leaving the trails as we were beginning our hike.
I think I see a BMG in the new commercial for the Westminster Dog Show (on USA Network)

Invite a moose to dinner - his body heat should take the chill off a small room.

Had a full afternoon of movies and fun telephone conversations.

I began with HOLIDAY. I've always liked this movie more than the more celebrated THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, and after watching it this afternoon, I still like it more.

Hepburn and Grant are superb, but my favorite performance in the film is Lew Ayres as the younger brother. He is heart-breaking to me. Should have gotten an Oscar nomination.

Next, I watched and made a DVD-R of COVER GIRL. The quality of the TCM broadcast was quite beautiful, and since I didn't have $22 to spare for a single movie with no extras, I figured the $.50 this DVD-R will cost me will more than suffice for now. If in the future, if Sony lowers the price of this DVD, I'll invest in the commercial release.

The remake of KING KONG comes on at 8 tonight, so I'll be watching it on HBO-HD. Will have a report when I log back on later.

Just returned from seeing Putnam County Spelling Bee, which I enjoyed very much. The only thing is that I can never understand the lyrics in this theater.

We took the city bus today, and we got to cross the street at my favorite crosswalk. When the little-green-walkie-guy comes on the traffic light, a voice says "Walk like a duck. Walk like a duck." DR Sandra says the voice is saying "Walk light is on," but I hear "Walk like a duck."

How well I know! And I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully, the high def visuals will keep me interested enough to watch all the way.

Its length is the one reason I didn't go to the theater or check out the DVD up until now. If I like what I see, I'll invest in the DVD. Otherwise, this might be the only time in my life that I'll watch it.

I'm back from a nice day out.  Went to the west side and did things, then stopped by Mr. Nick Redman's home environment, where I got the new Alex North 2001 CD, which I'm listening to now.

I lunched at the Broadway Deli - hadn't been there in at least eight years - still pretty decent.  The first time I'd reconnected with dear reader Jane, that's where we met.

DR Laura--

The other night, Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton, were the guest spellers in the Broadway 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Guess which word she got?

Do musical one acts count?
I loved the trilogy of one acts by William Finn which were combined to form Falsettos.

Like DR Matt, I have no interest in the Super Bowl, so I will be spending the evening at UCLA to take in Reprise's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, starring Manoel Felciano and Kelli O'Hara.
Jason Alexander is the director.

Problem is, I still have the original Broadway cast in my head, and I hope that I can appreciate seeing and hearing anyone other than Mandy and Bernadette, who brought me to tears when I saw it in New York.
