Yes, Mark, James, Dog Digger, Herbie, and Fat Cat all made it to Rawlins, Wyoming yesterday in one piece and still on speaking terms.

We shall see how James (who formerly lived in Las Vegas, Seattle, and California) thinks of living in a population 10,000 hamlet which is freezing, windy and 90 miles from the nearest town.

TOD: My most memorable Valentine's Day celebration was 14 years ago. We hadn't bought our 100 year-old house yet but we had already fallen in love with it and knew we were going to somehow make it our own. Even though we didn't own it, we had a romantic candlelight picnic on the front porch (it had been vacant for quite some time) and talked about our future together. (This was the same year we were going to be married.)

So, although we bought it, the dream didn't come true to live in this house. But we will have another Valentine's celebration next year, in a house that, although we haven't fallen in love with, will be at least a good buddy to us.

This Valentine's we're celebrating with dear friends who were married 20 years ago on Valentine's Day and are renewing their vows. They have the most wonderful antebellum home and gardens and are fabulous cooks, so we're looking forward to a fun evening with friends!

DR MATTH - I am assuming you meant ALL THE KING"S MEN and not ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN....   Mercedes McCambridge was fine in THAT film, but Miriam Hopkins was perfection - "Don't let your aunt come near me...."

WOW....yes, Basil Rathbone would have been terrific in the film.

I

Of course I did. My mind was clearly elsewhere when I typed that.

I do not observe Valentine's Day.  I do not even make observations about it.

Liar liar pants on fire (i.e., what do you call the post above if not an observation about it?)

I guess that's as good a definition of love as you can find. This would be a BIG sacrifice for me.

My embarrassing Valentine's Day story was when I was in 3rd (?) grade, I believe.

This girl that I particularly liked told me that for Valentine's Day, she wanted me to come in, dressed up like Cupid.  So, being the hopeless romantic I was, I went home that afternoon and told my mom that I wanted to dress up like Cupid for the whole day on Valentine's.  Obviously, this caused my mother to question my sanity a little bit, and she eventually talked me to down to dressing normally, but then she would bring the costume when it was time for our "home room" party that afternoon.  So, two birds with one stone -- I put it on for the party, much to the amusement (unintentional?) of my classmates, and then got my just desserts by wearing it out into the halls once school had ended.

Yet, I guess Kristen and I just weren't meant to be...I wonder why...

And then sadly, that was not the only time I ever dressed up like Cupid...

I miss Duh Bwain!

I had to take a break from ochestration, and here I am.  It's too quiet here today: Randy's working on a jigsaw puzzle, Jo Ann's been making a hug vat of vegetable beef soup and I hear the washer or dyer going.  My dad is restless but quiet.  Lucille called to check on Dad but the snow is keeping her in Monroe, OH.  Lady M has een stangely silent and curiously unobtrusive so far today.

I'd love to take a break and drive into town, but the snow is too deep.  In a few minutes I'll retun to Liz's score.  I plan to watch the DVD of Kevin's show with Jo, who occasionally watches DAYS OF OUR LIVES, sometime soon.

DR Dan(theMan), I wouldn't mind hearing more of the frozen nipples story.  Were you wearing a brassiere made of snow cones?

I did get a wonderful email from Charlotte over her birthday card, and I hve nothing more to post now.

Oh, this!

Robert Indiana is most famous for this sculpture.  One is on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art (which kicked the Booth Tarkington Civic Theater out of its home after four decades without ceremony).

There are several versions of it across the country.

Hey, this is one of my favorite Valentine stories, too... Boo-Key was so cute (the same heart shorts and wings as in the photo, but he was much shorter back then, and wearing white tights and a Harpo, curley blonde wig with a little bow and arrow prop).  And I wasn't trying to stifle his romantic flair -- we were living in small-town Texas then (need I say more -- home of cowboys, beer, steers, and football) and I was worried about his saftey if he wore that "get-up" to school all day, so yes, I talked him into wearing it to the home-room party that afternoon with the argument that it would be more of a surprise for the little girl if he walked into the Valentine's Party as Cupid.  Hey, it worked, the girl was moved (or was that amused) and little Cupid made it out to the car with only some laughs, lots of stares, a few points, and a taunt or two -- but no black eye!
