Most extravagant thing we've done recently was flying to Toronto especially to see LORD OF THE RINGS onstage.  Well worth it, though.

Well, I certainly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems the only downside of my new job is that I am scheduled to work on Friday night at 6:30, which provides a direct conflict of interest with our dear Brain release party...

Good morning!

We've got a heavenly looking day here at least right now. I think rain is supposed to move in tonight, but right now, it's lovely.

Holy Moley! 39 Pages?

Good morning, all!  It's either the headcold, or the stress of the past week, but I couldn't think of a single thing last night to add to the list.  I'm most jealous of "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte Russe" because my goddaughter is Charlotte. She's never seen the film, but last year I gave her a copy of Christiane Noll singing the song on BK's "Jeepers Creepers" CD.

Today, errands: post office, bank.  I need to pack up a lot of accumulated things here and send them back to NYC this week.  I think I can return on Friday night.  We had a good meeting with the attorney, and Macbeth seems okay right now.  Of course, he has to go home and let Lady M revise his thinking!

TOD: last purchase, my nonregional DVD player.  I love it!
TOD:

DR ELMORE,
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the posts. Like you, I couldn't think of much to add. I was laughing too hard!

Glad to hear that all seem smooth now.

I REALLY missed not getting mail delivery yesterday. Looking forward to whatever the mailman brings today, though if the past is any indication, the first day back after a Monday holiday is usually very light.

I couldn't find a picture of Velvet (the Mt. Hood Lab) to brighten the breakfast table, so I opted for religious tolerance instead:

Most extravagant recent purchase was the Playstation 3. I don't play video games at all, but this has the built-in Blu-ray high definition disc player, and its price was less than half that of standard Blu-ray players with in some cases a more sophisticated video and audio circuitry, so I put in a bid on Ebay and got it for less than list price with shipping thrown in for free. I think I got a great deal, but it was still a major expense for December when all the other bills for Christmas were starting to come due.

However, it's been a revelation to watch some films that I enjoyed on standard definition really pop in HD.

I'll have STUDIO 60 and CSI: MIAMI to catch-up (ketchup?) with today, and maybe the Blu-ray of MONSTER HOUSE before prime time begins this evening.

Tonight is the first semifinal round for the men on IDOL, and I'm really looking forward to hearing these guys sing an actual song all the way through to get some indication of what kinds of voices they actually have.

Should be an interesting evening.

DR Matt, have you seen MONSTER HOUSE before?  Watch some of the "Making of" extras--it's amazing how much effort they actually put into making this film.

No, it was a blind purchase based on reviews I had read, its Oscar nomination for Best Animated FIlm, and the folks involved with its making. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Well, we know that H/Ks love movies and we also know that H/ks like to talk about food, so is it any wonder that when we put the two together we get such results? I didn't realize how many great punsters we have. Yes, it really was fun.

There's a really wonderful restaurant near me. Pricey, yes, and I used to treat it as a special-occasion place. But, thinking you only live once, I will now go there for no special occasion--just because I love their food and appreciate a good meal. Not often, but not quite special-occasion.

And as for last night's HEROES.

SPOILERS

*
*
*

I must say i love their tag lines. And last night's "someone will fly, someone will die". Was no exception. And they did a great job of keeping their options open right till the end.  Claire's mom was hurt.  Claude (invisible guy) was hurt.  Plus that woman that could hear the loud sounds died (and that made me wonder if she was gonna be the one). I would not have been happy about that since we did not know her.  But what a great ending!  Caughe me by surprise.

Ah, MUSIC GUY, is that you who reviewed Appassionato on Amazon? Let me say that, as someone who shops Amazon frequently, I for one really appreciate customer reviews, esp from those who I know know music. In other words, pls do continue!

An extravigant purchase may be the new cast recording of Company which is $16.99 on iTunes.  What's up with that??  Amazon has it listed on SALE for that much, and it's only a single disk.
