Well, you've read the notes, the notes ran amok, and now it is time for you to post until the amok cows come home.

Yesterday, I wrote (just before leaving work):
Quote
Well, I'm now off to see a local production of "Picasso at the Lapine Agile."  I was in "Cannibal:  The Musical" with a couple of the actors.  It should be very good. :)

And then François wrote:
Quote
;D

No! Lapine is for James, Sondheim's friend! (Or a female rabbit!)

It's "Lapin Agile", an old Parisian Cabaret!

http://www.au-lapin-agile.com/agile.htm

Welcome to the Cabaret!!

Let me say:  Dopey me!  What was I thinking?  Anyway, it was a delightful show!  It was a very quick 75 minutes or so (I didn't realize that it was a one-act) and a good time was had by all.  The cast had great energy and the simple set was very cute.  The little theater space (The Midnight Sun, where we had auditions for "Cannibal!") only held about 40 or so people and they even had to add a couple of chairs.  The director and four of the actors or crew had been in "Cannibal!"  I'm glad that I went.  I wanted to go, but forgot about it and almost missed it.  Their last show is tonight (Saturday).  I was told that tonight's show has been completely sold out for the last couple of days!

After that, I came home and wanted to watch "Las Vegas," but my DVR didn't record it (I think I left the power on and it wasn't able to change channels without prompting, so it didn't :-\).  It did record "Ghost Whisperer" and "Psych" and I watched "Ghost Whisperer."  I then watched the last half hour or so of "Polyester" with Divine and Tab Hunter.  That was funny.  I need to see the first hour to really know what happened, though. ;) Anyway, that was my evening.

I am on my way to bed.

What a night.  I watched:

The Sound of Music
Hello,  Dolly!
Cabaret
Funny Girl
White Christmas

The real pleasure of it all was to see them in fantastic color and widescreen splendor on my new TV.

"The Sound of Music" is dazzling.  The location shots are stunning and the entire film seems to have a depth I've not seen in previous viewings.  Of course, the "plasma" picture helps a great deal and the 37-inch screen really opens the picture up for me.

"Hello, Dolly!" is amazingly vibrant in its use of colors.  The reds are dazzling, and the musical numbers seem to explode off the screen.  I'm deeply appreciative of what the new technology offers.

"Cabaret" was widescreen, but not anamorphic and not a digital master.  It's still brilliant to watch, but it suffers in comparison to older and newer films that have been mastered for HDTV viewings.

"Funny Girl" is awesome.  Still packs an emotional wallop for me.  And the colors are incredible.  I've not seen so much detail in this film...ever.  Probably never noticed it in the theater.

"White Christmas" is both anamorphic and digital, but it seems a bit the worse for wear and tear.  The colors seemed a bit muted and the visuals were a tad grainy.  I think Paramount could do better with it.

I'd have watched another musical but my eyes just don't want to stay open any longer.

So many pages yesterday, my hand fell asleep on my mouse while I was reading them!

DR MBARNUM thanks so much for the DVD care package.  I have only watched a bit of HOT SUMMER but it is freakazoid to say the least.  I am fascinated that even in a beach movie (on the Baltic Sea) - most of the German choreography consists of marching.

According to www.irs.gov, my refund is scheduled to be mailed on March 2.

If you have filed your taxes and know your SS #, your filing status (single or married or Whatever), and the EXACT amount of your refund, you can go to that site and find out when it is due to be sent to you.

Work today, again.  Hopefully we will be busy again.

I am working with the girl who can't talk.

To her the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck is the Rider-Wyatt Tarott Deck.  Pictures are pitchers.  And she has a counsel in her truck that I can only figure out is the console.  I don't want to get into her pronunciation of the triquetra.

TOD:

I haven't seen any films at the theatre this year, so I can't really comment.  But you can bet your boots I will have PLENTY to say tomorrow night during the ceremony!!

Tonight I am going to a party with a friend.  Does that surprise you?  You didn't know I had a friend did you?  Hahahahha!

DR MBARNUM - is the KLONDIKE episode you are watching the one that features the lovely Ms Allison Hayes?

Actually I would enjoy the Oscars much more if they let Miss Carroll Baker come out and do a scene from THE CARPETBAGGERS and have an Annette Funicello clip fest - and then have Hayley Mills give Fabian a special Oscar for his contributions to film.

But I don't think it's that cold in hell yet.

I'm up early, between the weather radio going off and the rain starting, I decided to get up.  It's raining and 34 degrees...it will change to freezing rain and then we're supposed to get 6-12 inches of snow. This is going to be a mess.

My brother just called. He's also up for some unknown reason and thought I just called him so he called me back....I called him about 6:00 PM yesterday afternoon. Anyway, we both got a laugh out of it because we both thought that a call this early on a Saturday had to be important, especially with our parents on the road

I'm REALLY glad my parents are in Joplin for the next couple days. They will miss the snow, can visit my sister and her family and have some place to go if the severe weather hits down there.

If The Brain gets a movie deal, here's just the production company to do it:

Nascar meets Harlequin Romances

http://snipurl.com/speeddating

"In these books there is also a good deal more engine-revving, so to
speak, than actual clutch-popping or rubber-burning. "Nascar is a
family sport," said Ms. Warren, the author of "Speed Dating," and so
the writers have to abide by certain rules: no crashes, no drugs or
alcohol, no sex."

(What fun is THAT?)

I don't see where it says CLICK TO BECOME A FRIEND OF THE BRAIN.

I see where I can add it to My Friends - even though I don't have anything on my personal page yet.  :D

Perhaps the author of "Dirty Book" could try writing a Harlequin/Nascar novel?

How can it be a Romance novel without sex? Isn't that why you read them?
