DR Cillaliz - Count me in as another Nanci Griffith fan. When I first got her "Other Voices, Other Rooms" album, I played it almost continuously for weeks. -Yes, it was basically an album of covers, but her renditions were so honest and aching. "Tecumseh Valley" still destroys me. And "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. And her original rendition of Julie Gold's "From A Distance" will never replace nor outshine Bette Midler's pop treatment of the song.
*And she puts on one helluva live show too!
**Which reminds me, I still have yet to listen to her latest torch song album which I bought a few months ago.
