Well, you've read the notes, the notes were discombobulated, and now it is time for you to post until the discomcowulated cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  I have no idea.  For most musicals that I've seen, I have almost always already had the record or CD...if I wanted it.

I'm also here all alone. I'm about to wander to the lounge area and do the obvious.

While going through some things this weekend I came across 3 old cassette tapes from 1981, 1982 and 1985. The first from 1981 is my old voice-over reel from when I was trying to break into that end of the biz. I had done it in Minnesota before I moved out to New York. Since I didn't have any of the real radio work I had done the producer and I took ad copy which I recorded  (ads for Q-Tips, Chevy and 3 other companies) and he mixed. It's very odd to hear something like that some 20 years later. I sound like a 12-year old! Perhaps I will put the spots on Volume 3 of my BBC Reviews disc. I also found a copy of a "radio drama" demo I had done in 1982. The producers thought it was time for a comeback for 5-minute radio dramas so we made the promo for "Mirror of Life" I played Mark, the son who had just gotten the lead in the college production of "Oklahoma" My girlfriend, Peggy, was cast as Laurie. Again, it was very funny to listen to the tape. There were 5 5-minute episodes about the seemingly perfect family from Clinton Falls. After listening to it in retrospect, I can understand why no producer picked it up. They were hoping to maybe get it on to WNYC (our local public radio station) but, even though it sounds well produced, it would not have had a long life. I also found an "industrial" I made for my current employer, The Foundation Center. I was working there in 1985 as a temp and they asked me to record, with one of the librarians, a how to tape explaining the process of getting a grant. We don't use that tape anymore and I wonder if the FC has a copy. I'm going to pass it on to Communications to see if they want to place a copy in the archives.

Time to wash the bowl.

Later!

Very interesting story, DR BEN.  The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there.

TOD:

Probably the FIRST movie that made me seek out the soundtrack (as opposed to just being in the store and seeing it, and buying it) was WILD IN THE STREETS.

You could probably ask your doctor for an ointment for that.

TOD:

I guess, like George, I pretty much have most of the CDs going in.  But I do recall enjoying all the music to Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire's Baby in the theater, and waiting eagerly for the album [yes, in those days they still had albums] to be released.

Some people denigrate the book for Baby.  I don't have a problem with it - but that score!  Every single number is a knockout.  And the performances of all of the original cast members were such gems.  It's one of those cast albums where I look forward to each and every track.
