I beg to differ!   :D

The plural of proboscis is proboscises, not probosci.

Isn't that silly?

Well, it's a Greek plural and not a Latin one.  Jast as the plural of octopus is octopoi not octopi, since it's a Greek derivation.  Makes grammatical sense to me.  But, then, I was a Classics major.

Never.

Well...it's possible.

Perhaps if I relay a really bad joke, time will pass and page 6 will occur:

Two Jewish men, Sid and Al, were sitting in a Mexican restaurant. Sid asked Al, "Are there any people of our faith born and raised in Mexico ?"

Al replied, "I don't know, let's ask our waiter." When the waiter came by, Al asked him, "Are there any Mexican Jews?"

The waiter said, "I don't know Senor, I'll ask the cooks." He returned from the kitchen in a few minutes and said "No sir, no Mexican Jews."

Al wasn't really satisfied with that and asked, "Are you absolutely sure?"

The waiter, realizing he was dealing with "Gringos" gave the expected answer, "I will check again, Senor!" and went back into the kitchen.

While the waiter was away, Sid said, "I find it hard to believe that there are no Jews in Mexico. Our people are scattered everywhere."

The waiter returned and said "Senor, the head cook said there is no Mexican Jews."

"Are you certain?" Al asked once again. "I can't believe there are no Mexican Jews!"

"Senor, I ask EVERYONE," replied the exasperated waiter, "All we have is Orange Jews, Prune Jews, Tomato Jews, and Grape Jews."

Oy!  I have been tied up with estate issues for the past 3 hours!  Phone calls and emails to brothers, sister-in-law, attorney, life insurance company, Butler County Auditor, father's bank in Florida.  Time for some gin, and not the card game.

Yes, Betty's passing was finally picked up by the mainstream press.

It seems she wanted it announced at a specific time by a specific person, her executor Carlos...and he will do so this afternoon.

I hope she left those lousy kids of hers a big fat surprise in her will.

I have no meetings or chairsides scheduled for this afternoon; therefore, my luncheon salad shall contain a plethora of raw red onion.

I'm just sayin'.

DR SINGDAW, what is your day job--if you don't mind telling?

I was a Classics major.
And one for Togas!

DR Elmore3003, I don't really mean to be flip.  Now that I am older and wiser, I truly wish I had studied Latin when I was younger - and my brain could readily absorb such things.

No problem, DR Jeanne.

I work for a company that outsources Human Resource functions for other companies - payroll, policy consulting, benefits administration, expense reimbursement, tax issues, etc.  Specifically, I work with people that are being relocated or transfered internationally due to new assignments, to assist them with the logistics involved [shipment of household goods, temporary accommodations, home finding, trailing spouse career counseling, language lessons, etc.].  It's kind of niche, but every day is new and different!

I made it a point to ask the counter girl at SaladWorks to add some feta to my Spensa salad.  In fact, I said it twice, because she asked me to repeat my order.  In double fact, she then asked, "With feta?" to which I replied, "Yes, with feta."

Now ask me if there was any feta in my Spensa salad.

Penance for the joke:

                               Layered Italian Casserole

1 lb. ground chuck                                1 teaspoon Rosemary
1/2 cup chopped onion                          2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 garlic cloves, minced                          8 oz. cooked and drained spiral pasta or spaghetti
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce                  3 tablespoons chopped parsley
1-1/2 cups ricotta (or cottage) cheese    1 teaspoon oregano
8 oz. grated mozzarella cheese             1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown beef, onion and garlic in skillet.  Drain off any fat.  Stir in tomato sauce, parsley, oregano, rosemary and Italian seasoning.  Cook 5 minutes.

In a 9 x 13 deep pan, layer pasta, meat sauce, ricotta or cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, and top with the Parmesan cheese.  If you use spaghetti, be sure to cut it in smaller pieces for easy serving.

Bake 30 minutes.

What is it about warm weather, when the air is loaded with pollen, that brings out the worst in cologne and perfume application?

Plain old physics - the warmer weather makes the perfumes aromatic esters evaporate faster and they form a denser cloud.

That is clear!  Though technically, isn't it just 2 weeks early?  I think the total extension is one month; 2 weeks on either end of the original period.

Actually, four weeks total, three at the front, one at the rear.
