I saw that SEESAW tour and liked Lucie Arnaz.....Tommy Tune not so much....and John Gavin quite a bit.

The tour was somewhat different from Broadway show. The songs Spanglish & Ride Out the Storm were dropped. They really had nothing to do with the show as they were written especially for the performers (Bennett protegees at the time) I have the broadway script and the scenes can be easily dropped without ruining the flow of the plot.

Also a new song was written for Lucie Arnez called The Party's One Me which was written as the act one finale.

It is said to be the last lyric that Dorothy Fields ever wrote.

I have never heard the song performed and as far as I know it only has been recorded once on the album Cy Coleman: The Party's On Me and sung by Laurie Beechman, Patti Austin and others.

BK Recorded the dropped song Big Fat Heart on Lost In Boston 3 and on Sally Mayes Dorothy Fields Album they recorded Tutu and Tights.

The cut song More People Like You was recorded on An Evening With Dorothy Fields

One more thing:
The song Poor Everyone Else was a trunk song. It was originally written for Sweet Charity.

Where else can you learn onformation like this but here!

Wasn't "Faith and Begorrah" a spinoff from "Laverne & Shirley"?

Wasn't that the name of the "comedy" series with Kelly Rippa & Faith Ford?

Good morning, all!  Happy St Patrick's Day.  I'm sure that our E&T DR DakotaCelt and her coven are all a-tizzie today.

In 1974, I drove in to New York with two friends to see the revival of CANDIDE that just opened at the Broadway Theatre.  We spent a part of Saturday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and got caught in the St Patrick's Day parade as we scrambled for a taxi to get to the matinee of PIPPIN.  And that's my only memory of St Patrick's Day, except for the gay protests in front of St Patrick's cathedral.

DR Jose, what are the dates for "Earnest In Love"?

I will also pipe in about the notes posted last night.

Yes I believe that Mr. Cason Murphy does have a future and I hope to get house seats from him for many years to come.

Egbert who played the Brain loved his voice and he can have a career as a Voice Over artist.

The General was, at least at the performance I saw,  the most undisciplined actor I ever saw on stage. He killed so many of the jokes. And had a hard time understand what he was saying and he had a microphone! he raced through his dialogue!

And yes the actor who played Private Parts stole the stage every time he was onstage with the General. He had no dialogue but stole the spot light from the actor.

And one of the actors from the show stated that he might have been having a shot or too many before the show.

Saturday morning greetings!

DR JRand's astrological forecast makes it sound like a good day for people to visit a used book sale!  I'm working at ours from noon-4.  Yesterday they took in more than $4000!

Top o' the (still) Mornin'! I didn't get much sleep but I feel rested for the moment. That will probably vanish in a few minutes and I'll go back to bed.

Top(ic) o' the Day: My favorite St. Patrick's Day was about 20 years ago. One of my best friends was a runner and I was a very sporadic jogger. Murphy's, an Atlanta instituiton with Irish roots, was sponsoring a 5K. I figured I could do that, even if I ended up walking at the end. We ran through lovely neighborhoods in Virginia-Highlands. I made really great time (for me) and was proud to have made it through without having to walk. (It was very hilly terrain.)

Another runner there was a friend of my girlfriend, (a redhead named Siobhan---how Irish is THAT!) and he invited us over to cook brunch for us. We had broccoli diced up into scrambled eggs, making them kind of green and St. Patrick-y. But the memorable brunch ingredient was the friend he had invited who had also just run the race.

The first guy had been interested in dating my friend, but since she wasn't interested in anything more than friendship with him, he invited his friend---Sean Kelly (how Irish is THAT!) whom he thought might be someone she would like.

The four of us went out boulder scrambling...they loaned me a pair of those sticky rock climbing shoes, but I didn't really see the appeal. But I did enjoy watching the immediate chemistry these two had and felt that history was in the making.

That night, I had gotten tickets for us to go to see one of my favorite Irish bands, Patrick Street, with Kevin Burke--my favorite Irish musician. We had gone together to see them many times in the past. Sean joined us, (it turned out he was a musician who used to play in a band with some friends of mine from high school) and it was a terrific concert.

Afterwards, I introduced my two friends to Kevin. "This is my friend Siobhan and her future husband, Sean".  They both looked at me like I was insane.

A few years later, I was her Maid of Honor at a beautiful wedding under the Wyoming skies with the Wind River Mountains in the background. (Both being outdoorsy types, they had moved there the year before.)

I am happy to have been there when the sparks flew! A Happy St. Patrick's Day, indeed!

TOD - the only St. Patrick's Day I remember distinctly was 1973, the year I was in grad school at Michigan.  We had a late winter blizzard that paralyzed Ann Arbor and freaked out my good friend and her husband, Californians who had come to the midwest for that one year of school and went back to CA just as soon as their degrees were complete.  I'll see her this summer in DC and will ask if she remembers that snowstorm.

And the word of the day is: OSMIC!
Der Grampa's older grandlad, Alex, has repeatedly told us that he will not like any food that offends his OSMIC sense.  This does not explain why he refuses to eat salad, however, since lettuce has little, if any, smell.

I've always wanted to learn to croquet.  My mother-in-law tried to teach me, but she's left-handed and I'm not, so it didn't work very well  ;)

And it's already time for me to get ready for work.

Bright sunshine here in Rehoboth.  I guess der Brucer gets to sleep in today, instead of driving me to work.

But I'll be wearing my St. Pat's hat today!  Imagine an all-green Cat-in-the-Hat hat!  Imagine it on top of someone six foot two!

And I had to laugh at the coverage last night on the news of all the snow plows working on Fifth Avenue in order to get it cleared for the St. Patrick's Day parade today.  They kept saying that the City of New York had a certain number of snow plows, and I swear half of them were on Fifth Avenue last night!

Good morning!

Much colder here today and will be even colder tomorrow, but then we start a warming trend to get back to spring.

It's otherwise beautiful outside, however, and I'm seeing buds of leaves on the trees that give a nice St. Patrick's Day flavor to the day.

I have no St. Patrick's Day stories to relate. I do have some Irish in me (and I find Irish men incredibly sexy), but I have no memories of anything memorable happening on this day.

And while the actors are working out some choreography...

While walking through the hallways here yesterday, there was one girl I just wanted to slap across the face...

Oh!  Hey what are you doing here?
-Her friend points to the sign on the door: Jersey Boys
OH!!!  That's so cool, I'm so happy for you!
-Thanks.  Yeah, this is my final callback... I really need to focus right now.
Oh, I totally understand (she gives him a big hug)...
-Thanks... I really need to focus...
Hey, Sabrina... Look who's here?!?!?  -Michael is about to go into his Jersey Boys callback... Isn't that so cool!!
-Michael finally starts to walk away...
Hey!  I really hope your audition goes well.. That really is soooo cool...

-And that was about the point where I wanted to slap her across the face... Leave Him Alone, Bi-Yatch!.   Alas, I had to get back to my rehearsal... Talk about a missed opportunity.  ;D

So... You did not answer my query from last night...

Where are we staying when during your visit to New York City?

;)

Good morning dear studly and pixie-like Jose..... you temptress!   I'm not sure about hotel location yet, but I was thinking of coming in to NYC on Monday the 25th of June, and maybe spending about 3 days or so.  I have a few friends spread all over Manhattan, from down in the Village to up north of Harlem, so I get my choice of the city top to bottom.  I think you are currently up north....are you above 125th street?

Also, Fred had asked about the dates, so once again, I think arrive on June 25th.  I was really sorry that Fred and Skip had their trip to L.A. get screwed up, 'cause I was looking forward to meeting them.

I hope to get to SUPERNATURAL, ANDY BARKER, P.I. and THE PERILS OF PAULINE on the DVR this afternoon and early evening.

And if the Blu-ray of CASINO ROYALE comes in the mail today as I'm hoping, that's what I'll watch tonight. If not, I'll put in the Blu-ray of A HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY to watch.
