I also loved DR BEN's remarks yesterday about baseball. Sort of summed up my feelings about the game--most sports, actually.

Certainly.

I watched two movies this afternoon.

I began with THE PERILS OF PAULINE which I haven't seen in a long, long time. The film wasn't any better than I remembered it, some of it good but much of it terribly cliched.

The print TCM aired was very deeply saturated, but it had loads of artifacts throughout, so if Universal were to release this Paramount feature to recover it from public domain hell, they'd have to do a lot of clean-up to make it presentable, and I doubt they'll go to the trouble.

Next, I put in THE LITTLE FOXES. I was going to watch one of the Criterion discs I got yesterday, but during THE PERILS OF PAULINE, I started thinking about this movie and not having seen it in several years, pulled it off the shelf and watched it again. Very, very enjoyable, and the old DVD transfer I have looked excellent apart from a few stray scratches.

I still have SUPERNATURAL to watch today, and may watch another Lucy-Desi hour since time will probably be too limited to squeeze in NIGHT AND THE CITY (Dassin's version) before GREASE comes on at 8.

Several weeks ago, I reported in this forum that I had spent a pleasant couple of hours watching, on my then-new plasma HDTV, "South Pacific" and was totally blown away by the restoration, the colors, the sound, everything.

What I later realized, much to my chagrin, was that what I had watched was the familiar "theatrical cut" of the film...the one most everyone has seen over the past 49 years.

Last night (starting in late afternoon, actually) I popped in the "restored roadshow version" and spent the next 5 hours wallowing in stunned joy (and, at the end, outrage when I listened to the worst commentary tracks imaginable).

At any rate, if anyone is interested, here are my observations about:

[shadow=color,glow width,#characters wide][size=8]South Pacific[/size][/shadow]

Howard Keel did play Emile in a 70's touring of the show opposite Jane Powell! I got to see them in Montréal and they were wonderful! Ah, nostalgia!

Page Two Rocketship Dance.

JRand, you should do something like this with the rocket (how about as a belated Page Five Dance?):

[move=up,scroll,6,transparent,100%]
[/move]

I believe the pianist in those clips is our Assistant MD/Conductor, Jim Laev.  -He, along with our lead MD/Conductor, Patrick Vaccariello, have been with All About Us/Over and Over/Skin of Our Teeth since the original Signature Production.

-I'll ask Jim to confirm or deny that when I get to rehearsal today.

Well... Since we really can't/shouldn't play the sound clips that loud here in the rehearsal room...  The consensus is is that it is neither Jim nor I playing on those sound clips.  We both seem to think that those clips are from the original demos - pre-Signature Theatre production.  But...  ???

Now I get to home and do laundry!  :-\

It's time for me to get ready to work the concessions counter for a performance by the Olympia Symphony Orchestra playing German music...Beethoven, Wagner and Brahms.  I must shower, then dress, then eat, then do a few errands, then go downtown to do concessions.  I'll record everything that I want to watch on TV tonight.  The symphony starts at 7:00 p.m., but I don't have to stay after the intermission, so it shouldn't be too bad. ::)

And I finally bought my office chair at Office  Max this afternoon.  Brown leather, terrific back support and nicely contours to my tush.  Small problem where I couldn't fit the box in my car, but I simply took it out of the box and loaded it in (the store had no problem with me leaving the box in the vestibule.)  The chair was a snap to put together and I'm sitting on it as I type.

DER BRUCER,
I loved your joke yesterday about "the Czech is in the male." I have a t-shirt that says "Czech It Out," but had never heard the "Czech is in the male" joke.

Thank -you for the set-up.

Well, Grease is on tonight, hopefully that will perk things up.

Well, if our esteemed host won't be watching, it would be rude of us to comment.

And I saw the same in LA (1977), directed by Donald Driver.
Keel and Powell returned to LA in 1980 to do "I Do, I Do".

Hi dear Esteemed, well-slept, and tuneful BK --

Good vibes on your performance this evening.  When you have a second, could you please give a little "credential and bio" rundown on Barbara Deutsch?  I googled that name, but there are lots of different ones in various fields.

Thanks, oh brain who is so brainy !!

And the word of the day is: AHIMSA!

Uncle Remus looked over the crowd of youngun's and queried: Which of you is Homer?

A polite young lad answered sheepishly:
AHIMSA
A' HIM
