Good morning!

A little cooler here today, and what a relief. I like warm weather as much as the next man, but 85 degrees in March is a little much! It's going to be 70 today, much more to my liking!

I really love all the new avatars. COngrats to all for the updates. If I can find some charged batteries to put in my digital camera, I may update my pic today as well. We'll see.

Since I don't watch DANCING WITH THE STARS, I only have '24' on TV tonight to watch that's not a rerun. I'll fill in with episodes from THE WILD WILD WEST and possibly other DVDs. And I still have WITHOUT A TRACE and SCRUBS on the DVR which also need watching and then erasing.

Yes, Kathleen Marshall said that immediately after GREASE Academy, she would have chosen Juliana and Derek as Sandy and Danny. I'm not sure in the end that wouldn't have been the way to go, but after hearing how desperately high "You're the One That I Want" is for the guys, I'm sure Derek would have needed the key taken down a bit.

Good Morning!

Mmm.... Just what I needed: a good night's sleep, and a nice and easy morning.  A day off is a good thing.

:)

Yes, I'm up.

RE GREASE

And re: the ages, aren't max and laura 21 and 20 respectively? Are you saying that all of those cast members they showed are 20????  I can't believe that.

Well, the rest of the cast is in their 20's, most of them early to mid 20's.

TOD:

I've always thought DIE HARD was the greatest action-adventure movie ever made. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK would certainly rank right up there, too.

This from another message board:

"Austin Miller is gay. He was responsible for the breakup of collaborators (HAIRSPRAY) and long time couple, Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman."   ::)

Not saying anything except what I've heard.  8)

Well...  From what I've heard... You could insert the name of any number of young actors who were "responsible" for that break-up.   I mean, Mr. Shaiman flew someone else out had someone else sitting next to him at the Las Vegas opening of Hairspray in which Austin Miller was playing Link.  And I believe there was a similar situation when the show opened in Los Angeles - and, again, Austin Miller was playing Link.

And there are many more young actors who are responsible for many other break-ups - low and high profile.

But his name is out there now. That must be a good thing.

His name was already out there.  I mean having already been on a soap opera, and in the National Tour and Vegas companies of Hairspray ain't such a bad career so far.

bk - As for those donuts:  From where?  What kind?  Were there any chocolate varieties involved?  Which kind did you heat up?  Inquiring minds want to know.

An ad on CNN just talked about "leveraging  a powerful tool."  Given the scandal talk, I assumed it was a reference to an upcoming report on Austin.

(Kidding again, if Austin's handlers are reading this.  I assume they read HHW religiously.)

Depends on your meaning of "handlers".

I see Marilyn Maye is in New York at the Metropolitan Room.  She is great.  Every summer for eons she's been going to The New Inn at Lake Okoboji, the lakes area I go to.  She did everything she could the summer we had to raise 6 million dollars in about 8 weeks to prevent a developer from tearing down a 100 year old amusement park (we succeeded). It was almost funny, you wouldn't even have to tell her about it, but any event that happened...there she was willing to take the mic and sing for the cause...gotta love that.

She also wrote a great song about my home town Estherville when she got stranded there in a blizzard one year.  Anyway, as far as Cabaret, she is timeless. I haven't seen her in several years but my family has and said she's as good as always

Someone was pointing out that Danny Zuko as a starring role in the stage version is similar in "scope" to Phantom - that while it's a "star" role, it only requires the stamina of a 25-minute performance spread out over the course of the show; the material just makes it feel like the actor is onstage and active more.  I can't really tell from the script - does that sound right to anyone who's done the show?
