TOD:

Since I had been diagnosed with diabetes back in November (coupled with the heart attack) my chocolate consumption has been near nil.  On the plus side, the three or four pieces that I have eaten since have been very, very good chocolate as opposed to the junk chocolate that I used to wolf down, like Kit Kats, Whatchamacallits, Butterfingers and anything Reeses.  Chocolates that I would now prefer are pieces like Godiva cream truffles (especially with peanut butter) and See's caramels.

At the same time, I remember smacking my lips the time that DR Jose mentioned the orange cream M&Ms available at the M&M Store--they sound delicious!  And I heard someone here in the office last week talk about chocolate covered jelly beans.  I have not had any of those since I was a youngen when I was lucky to get a small handful in my Easter basket.

Monday morning greetings!  Today's my day off - I have pre-Easter errands to do and a basketball game to watch tonight.  Yeah, yeah, I'll be for Ohio State  ::)

TOD - My DH once told a waiter that my name was Mrs Chocolate.  I especially like Hershey's Special Dark and the chunks of chocolate in Graeter's chip flavor ice creams.  Actually, there's very little chocolate I don't like!

IIRC VixMom mentioned yesterday that she took food pictures but forgot to take a picture of the cake. I don't know if she wants a picture but she did mention forgetting to snap the shot.

the charoses represents the mortar used for the pyramids, or something like that.

Yep.  I don't understand bk's aversion to it.  I mean, it's made with apples and spices, and some use wine...what's not to like?  :)

Yes, good Charoses is a compliment to a seder meal.

Heard at a particularly tense Passover meal at DF Ellen Schwartz's house:

Her son piped up and said "Would someone please pass the neurosis?"

Good morning!

It's overcast here but heading into the 80s for highs. But it's only going to stay there a day or two and then head back down to more normal temps for the end of the week and weekend. Spring as usual here in NC!

It being Passover and all, I will restate my annual lament that Elizabeth Swados' THE HAGGADAH was never recorded.

I'm not much a fan of white chocolate, but anything else is pretty much fair game for me. I have a REAL chocolate addiction and have to watch closely or I could get in real trouble health-wise (and weight wise).

And I'm not a purist. I love expensive chocolates, but I can be just as happy with a Hershey bar though I know others who find it waxy chocolate and can't stomach it. No problems for me.

I've told this story here before, but since chocolate IS the topic of the day. A friend of mine visited China a few years ago, and he brought me back some Chinese chocolate. Absolutely the WORST thing I have ever tasted in my life.

I am glad you all enjoyed my Las Vegas photos. My son thinks I'm weird for snapping photos of such things.

Singdaw and other fairly new members of this site, this line of photography began once when DR Sandra and I went up to Las Vegas to see Forever Plaid at the Gold Coast. We do not drink, gamble, or otherwise sin in Vegas, so we needed to find something to do to kill an entire day. We have always loved casino carpets (as we love all things tacky), so we decided to snap photos of as many casino carpets as we could in a day. And what could we do with such a delicious bunch of photos?  Why, share them with all the lovely folks at HHW. When we had all the carpets, we only had to look up for our inspiration for the next item. When we noticed the parrot doorknobs .....

Best friend John's kids are out of school this week, so they'll be joining us on our lunch out today. We'll probably go to a pizza buffet for their benefit. No complaints from me!

While in Las Vegas, we went to church. We were lucky to attend church on a day when they were dedicating their brand new PIPE ORGAN and so were able to hear a few pieces of real pipe organ music.

I'll have THE TUDORS and COLD CASE to watch this afternoon, and then I'll begin the other special features on the Criterion OVERLORD DVD.

The only network show I'm interested in tonight is Fox's '24.'

Cool!   8)

It is always frustrating trying to educate people as to why an electronic organ [or "appliance", as purists call them] is just not the same.  It is better than nothing, if economics dictate, but once you've heard the real thing, it's hard to go back...

I am glad to know that DR MattH did not believe for a second that I could have been hauled off to a psych ward.

Thanks for linking that, Ben. And thanks for the kind words, Elmore. Those guys were all cool to talk to and were all such different characters, it was pretty interesting to put together.

It CANNOT be overstated how great the fried chicken à la Skip was yesterday. I am a fried chicken freak, and to arrive and see a mountain of it like that was like a dream come true. The pieces were enourmous too. Thanks again Skip and FJL.

Congrats to Cillaliz on the weather gig! That is really cool.

Two weeks ago Bowling Green alums were invited to the ABC NY affiliate because the lead sportscaster there is BG grad, so I signed up and got a tour of the WABC studios and stuff. But to actually do the weather, that is fantastic!

Nice photos DR Laura... Interestingly, they dont sell cherry coke here or at least it is not very common.

I don't drink Cherry Coke, although it is sold here.

And the word of the day is: CONURBATION!
If you live in a conurbation, it's a good idea to have curtains on all your windows, because you've no idea how many people might be looking in.
