Maybe.

I began my evening watching Stephen Frears THE QUEEN. An interesting film, very enjoyable, and, at least if the movie is to be believed, the moment when a monarch who had become insulated from her subjects learned that the world and its people had changed and had different expectations of their sovereigns. Helen Mirren was superb (her walk among the flowers at Buckingham Palace could be a master class for actors), and I was just as impressed with the jaunty Michael Sheen as Tony Blair.

Next I watched the "making of" documentary on the DVD. Very routine stuff, but nice to see the actors out of make-up and character; that's always enjoyable, especially their expressions of nerves playing real (still living) people.

I began listening to the first audio commentary featuring director Frears and screenwriter Peter Morgan, but Frears seemed to be there only grudgingly while Morgan did his best to engage him in conversation. Not a scintillating discussion, but I did find out why the Tony Blair scenes seemed grainy on the DVD: they were filmed in 16mm and Elizabeth's scenes in 35mm to accentuate the class difference between them!

CROSSING JORDAN had Jordan under the knife tonight as she was operated on for a brain tumor. There was also a fairly interesting case concerning the murder of a witness to a crime and the policeman who was protecting him. OK episode, but the show has clearly lost its spark.

LOST had a fabulous episode as we got the backstory on Juliet. SOme other vital information was given to us about Juliet's work on the island.

spoiler

I was glad that my suspicions about her were absolutely correct.

As for the eliminated person on IDOL, well, it was deserved, and the person who came in next-to-last should be soon. Of course, I'd still rather see a certain OTHER person eliminated, but that doesn't appear to be happening.

I received my THIRD batch of KIMMEL GARAGE SALE CD's today....and they are lovely.

BUT - I must comment on one I received a couple of days ago:

TWIGGY - I purchased because I like a LOT of the songs and of course DR MBARNUM recommended it as well.

I cannot say enough about this sweet CD.  And what fun singer Miss Twiggy is.  BUT what I love MOST about this CD is one of Mr DR ELMORE's arrangements.

This is a song by a Hoosier writer.  It is a song that I only knew from the original soundtrack of STAR! with Ms Julie Andrews.  A song that was embedded into my brain....but this new arrangement and new singer made the song NEW to me all over again.

It is one of the cleverest arrangements I have ever heard, and I love the song even more.

"The Physician."

I am happy about the outcome of TOP DESIGN....although I didn't think the other person deserved to be there in the first place.

Don't forget my slippers.

The dialog may have covered it, but there wasn't an opportunity for her to have changed her shoes....curtains closed on one number and she stepped onstage and coaxed Fred up to dance with her.  8)

BK, I asked this earlier, but you must've missed it:  Do you have any interest in recording plays on Kritzerland or do you want to keep it all about music?

No, I think we'll stick to music.  Sadly, plays don't sell, although if the right thing came along at the right time, who knows?

If I may be so bold - elmore did the brilliant orchestration, but I did the arrangement, and several of the musical "jokes" are pure, well, the sort of thing I love to do.  Some of the little sound fx were from the bank of fx that Vinnie and I have saved over the years.

It's a musical; you think too much. Besides, Essie could have been putting them on her feet out of the camera frame. Who cares?

I am posting my first posts from my newfangled laptop computerized machinery...it is swell. Nice, clear screen...just need to get myself used to this smaller keyboard and the finger dohicky way of making the arrow go where you want it to go...but it sure is nice to be able to do this all from the comfort of my couch! I like that...and I can't wait to use it on my trip to LA.

Will we never get to page eleven?  I've proofed some more pages, found some more silly typos, added a sentence or three, and will now finish the movie I'm in the middle of.

Just found out that "A Man Of No Importance" (the movie that is) is at last available on DVD (UK).

I'm now hoping for "Dreamchild".
