Good morning!

Beautiful day here with highs near 70 expected. The wind has calm considerably (thank goodness). Should be a really fine day.

I read in the newspaper this morning that 200,000 people in the area are without electricity, so I will not complain about being without cable. At least I have power and can compute, watch DVDs and what's already on the DVR, and cook meals. Life is good.

I still have left over on the DVR SUnday night's THE SOPRANOS, ENTOURAGE, and WITHOUT A TRACE. I also will finish ON MOONLIGHT BAY today, but will take a break from Miss Day and go back to THE WILD WILD WEST (no, not Mae either!)

And if cable should remain out today, I will only miss one new program - THE SHIELD which will repeat on Friday night.

Other than Fox's AMERICAN IDOL and HOUSE, most of the other shows I watch on Tuesday night are in repeats tonight.

BOSTON LEGAL is a new episode tonight.

All those old popular dances from the 1960s I did when I was in junior high and high school: The Twist, the Mashed Potato, the Pony, the Swim. By the time I started going to gay dance clubs in the late 1970s, it was pretty free-for-all style dances.

I'd still rather dance a slow dance holding my partner close and barely moving. That's the kind of dancing I most like now.

Speaking of my mother's trip out here -- I think it was first prompted by an offer of a LA Hainsie/Kimlet Reunion brought up by one MBarnum...is this plan still in effect here?

Yes DR Cason, I will be in Burbank, California, USA on Monday the 23rd. We are all available HHWers having dinner at Musso and Frank's the evening of the 24th (Tuesday).

I imagine DuPar's will occur (I hope) at least once or twice whilst I am there.

I guess I need to head down now to check the mail, tidy up a few things, and then start preparing lunch. I'm doing spaghetti today. Yum!

Most of the dance crazes were before my time, other then the Macarena (sp?) which I avoided.

I have attempted, in recent years, to do some of the '60s dances...but it was not pretty.

Dancing in the 1980s did not require much skill, so I did Ok back then...particularly after a few drinks.

DR Ron Pulliam -

Please let us know how you made out with dealt with the meddlesome co-worker!

Well now....it's been rather quiet on that "we" front lately.  In fact, I was rather delighted to hear her propose to someone else that "they" start walking the lake.

Perhaps my obstinate silence and non-participation in her fancy actually got through.

On the other hand, she and one other female co-worker have seemingly stepped up their "oh whatever will I do?" co-dependency tactics to involve me in their days by having me sort out the simplest computer problems they manage to encounter (things that are such no-brainers you'd cringe in disbelief).

I overheard the other one in a phone conversation yesterday...someone is coming here to visit my co-worker and she wants me to loan her a set of plans for her visitor to look at.  In her phone call she said, "Let me know what time you'll arrive, and I'll ALERT RON to be on STANDBY to provide us with the plans."

I walked to her door and glared at her.  "What?" she wanted to know.  I said, "I don't do STANDBY, and I don't respond to ALERTS.   I told you I'd loan you the plans in the morning.  They'll be on your desk well before you arrive.  I don't expect to be INVOLVED any further."

She got my drift.  The absolute and total AIRS some folks will put on to seem more important than they are.  UNbelievable.

I was up there with the associate conductor/keyboard II player, and the percussionist.  It was a bit weird being disconnected at times, but we didn't have to dress up, and we had our own bathroom.  But all of us would gather in the musician's locker/dressing room before the show and at intermission.

They had more than just their own bathroom....from the stories I recall, there were massive quantities of food laid out, as well!   :D

Doesn't anyone recall a name  being mentioned in this forum a week or so ago?

I seem to recall it was in reference to "something."

I Really Shouldn't speculate what it might have been about....troubles, I mean, that this person allegedly was having.

(sort of rhymes with John Glenn, as I recollect)

DR Jose re: TAR.

There are spoilers for most reality shows, TAR is no exception.  I'm quite sure that I could easily find out who wins. Or at least who is in the finals (televisionwithoutpity has huge spoiler threads).  And i'm pretty sure the order of elimination was reported many months ago.

SURVIVOR has the same type of spoilers out there.

I will definitely check out the TAR spoilers after the season ends. Although it will be interesting to see if having racers continue to pretend to race after they've been eliminated will throw off these spoiler whores!

Btw, re: our discussion last night about the promo. Obviously the text preview on cbs.com gives most of it away!

And...

Why Was I Born?

Beat Generation, daddy-o! ....  Why am I here?

"How did I get into the world? Why was I not asked about it, why was I not informed of the rules and regulations but just thrust into the ranks as if I had been bought by a peddling shanghaier of human beings? How did I get involved in this big enterprise called actuality? Why should I be involved? Isn't it a matter of choice? And if I am compelled to be involved, where is the manager -- I have something to say about this. Is there no manager? To whom shall I make my complaint?" (Kierkegaard's "Repetition" reference)

Other existential questions:

Dingdaw ~ Do you live in bk's living room?  Are you going for your Master of Posting degree? Or just the Frenzied Poster of the Month Award? How am I to keep up with all the postings if you and Francois keep "mounting" these frenzies?  Who are you?  What are you?  How are you?

By the way, Dingdaw, nice mug...I can see why you like Puce, it is in your color palate... and it's nice to see, by the photo of you in the floral dress, that someone still likes to wear hats (which I think has been an existential topic on this site in the past..)..
