As for the Topic of the Day...

There was a movie musical before "Grease"?

Good morning!

A beautiful looking day here, but it's already heating up - more in the low to mid 80s today. Feels like summer.

And the word of the day is: INVIDIOUS!
The rumors that there are shots of US IN VIDIO form to be found on the Internet are INVIDIOUS - der Brucer and I keep the drapes closed at all times, and none of the dogs has learned to use a video camera.

I saw the musical LOST HORIZON at the theater when it was first released and bought the soundtrack LP. I have seen the movie once and listened to the album once, so I can't offer any suggestions to who could have played the roles then or now.

I just know I thought it was one of the most leaden, overlong, and uninteresting musicals I had seen.

And I remember after AIRPORT came out and was such a big hit, producer Ross Hunter was on the Mike Douglas Show, and Mike asked him what his next project was going to be. When Hunter announced he was going to do a musical version of LOST HORIZON, there were audible gasps and whoops and much applause over the announcement. Clearly, they though this was a good idea. What we ended up with wasn't good.

DR Michael Shayne, did you mean Rob Marshall to direct a new filming of LOST HORIZON?

I have last night's MEDIUM and CSI: NY to watch today, and I'd also like to watch MY GAL SAL so I can clear it off the DVR. It's going to be very crowded on there tonight, the first night of sweeps.

Because this is the first night of the spring ratings sweeps, everything is new tonight, so get those DVRs and VCRs ready for some recording.

Back to LOST HORIZON again, I'm not sure I've ever seen the Ronald Colman version all the way through. I'm not sure I own a copy of it either. If I do, it's on the to-watch shelf bought used some years ago.

Topic of the day
Took it a little serious

Tom Cruise…………….Richard Conway
Cate Blanchette………...Catherine (Sondra in original)
Renee Zellweger………..Sally Hughes (Gloria Stone in Original)
Nicholas Cage…………..George Conway
Bruce Willis…………….Sam Cornelius (Henry Barnard in Original)
Matthew Broderick……...Harry Lovett (Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett)
Jessica Biehl………..…….Maria
Al Pacino………………...The High Lama
Chow Yun Fat……………Chang

Ken Marshall direct and choreograph

Ah, well the casting kills this for me.  I refuse to watch anything done by Tom Cruise, simply because I can no longer separate his off-screen antics from what he does on-screen.

Oh, and I want to finish A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS today, too. I got to the point in the film where Henry VIII made his "surprise" visit to the Mores' house.

I may actually get some catching-up done today!  It's a for real day off for me, with the phone off the hook (well, not really, but I'm ignoring all messages).

As it is, I'm still a bit stiff from the cart wrangling of two days ago, but I'll have recovered enough to tackle the job again tomorrow.  And the bit of sunburn that I got has tamed down.

I still need to get to the store today.  We're almost out of soda, and there are a couple of sales I want to take advantage of - whole boneless pork loins at less than half price (time to pick up two), and those spiral-shaped energy saver light bulbs on a ten-for-ten sale (which really means just one dollar each) (but I'll have to get a rain check on this bargain, because we sold out by last Saturday and still haven't received a new shipment).

Other than that, it's a very nice day, and I intend to be nicely lazy for most of it.

Definitely hope today is better than yesterday, DR Elmore.

Aren't those kinds of days just awful. I know we've all had them where nothing seems to go our way. I don't blame DR Elmore for just going to bed early and forgetting the day ever happened.
