I wasn't really sad to see him or chris go. They are both nice enough. But like DR MattH said, i don't think either one was going to win.  I was just happy that blake was safe.

I actually think that being the only guy left will help blake a lot. And i don't see him going next.  Of course it seems like the votes could be real close. So i guess based on their performance it is possible than any of them go (although i would think jordin and melinda would last till the end).

The only trouble with all of this, of course -- and I'm taking exception to your and MattH's opinions here -- is that Blake was easily the worst of all the male singers.

Weak, weak voice.  He's very clever in how he uses it.  But I doubt seriously anyone would ever pay to buy a CD of his voice doing anything.  Even the performance night before last was a novelty -- cute once, but oh-so-dreary on repeat listenings.

Phil had come the furthest and had the second-best male voice in the top 12 (Chris Sligh's was better, but he refused to "grow").

Jordin and Blake have extreme "youth" going for them.  Neither is a patch on Mindy Doo and Kiki.

Except that I just saw that DR Cason had popped in.... I would be E&T if I didn't send a hug to the Boo-key !

Yes, speaking of E&T, I'm here.  Thanks for the hug by the way - I'll take 'em wherever I can get 'em.

Just thought I'd check in and see how all my favorite little forum posters are doing.

Even after working until around 12:30 last night and not getting to sleep until close to 2 or 3, my body still decided that it wanted to wake up at 8:30...and now I have lots of time to kill before my Ever-Lovin' Heather lands in Burbank at 5:15 this afternoon.

Then, as noted, we are to sup with Bruce - and after that, I have a quick audition for a musical that a friend of BK's has helped write:  Bukowsical!  I don't know if Bruce has ever talked about it around here, but they are holding another round of auditions and I was specifically e-mailed and asked to come, so it's nice to feel wanted!

Since my parents weren't much in the way of filmgoers, most of what I saw was at drive-ins.  It wasn't until Mary Poppins that they took my sister and me to see a film in a movie theater (Sid Grauman's Chinese, no less).  About a year or so later, Dad took us all to see The Sound of Music and Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 Hours 11 Minutes, both in their roadshow engagements in Los Angeles.

During college, in Fresno, I tried to make up for not having seen very many films as they were intended to be seen in my earlier years, but let's face it - Fresno?

Possum Cake page Three Dance.

I wonder if that one is Red Velvet Cake inside, like in "Steel Magnolias."

...yeah, I'm not really helping the whole "I'm straight" ruse here, am I?

I think Frank Thring's performance as Herod in KING OF KINGS is one of DR CP's favorite screen turns.

And Jay Robinson as Caligula had some Uranian moments in THE ROBE and DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS.

Well...yes....Thring.

I was distracted by ROLLER BOOGIE on TV....Beverly Garland as playing a society hostess and failing at projecting anything but old blonde bimbo.

And the MOB is after the Roller Disco!

What MattH said....

Catching up isn't easy -- you either respond to posts as you read them -- and learn later that others have already said what you were going to...or you wait till you've read 'em all...and then face the daunting task of revisiting them all.

...or do recapitulations (not to be confused with recopulations) -- or "sticker recaps" which Mr P is so fond of....

Actually, der B, "How to Marry A Millionaire" was the second film released in CinemaScope (and it was reportedly filmed first!!!).  CinemaScope was introduced in 1953 and "The Egyptian" was released in 1954.  I don't know the pecking order of CinemaScope releases, but Fox had several of them in production when "The Robe" was being prepared for premiere.
DR Matt posted this first.  Kudos to Matt.

I've written about most of my large format film experiences (Cinemascope, standard 35mm, is not large format, but Cinemascope 55 was).  I wrote briefly about Aromarama, which I saw, in the chapter about the other smell film, Smell-O-Vision, in Kritzer Time.

Scent Of Mystery was my first Todd-AO film.  I'm thinking Ben-Hur was my first 70mm film experience, also at the Egyptian.  I have to ponder that, though.  Otherwise, I saw all the big films, but in 35mm printdowns.

The Ten Commandments was shot on large format film (VistaVision) but never shown that way - like all VistaVision films save for two, it was printed down to 35mm.

Cinerama (three panel) wasn't actually a large film format - it was three 35mm projectors.

AS much as I like taking credit for other people's research and hard work, 'twas DR Michael Shayne that reported this info.
