TOD:

I don't get obsessive about real life crime trials beyond water cooler talk.  The OJ trial initially provoked more interest than most but that was early on before fatigue set in.

Poor wandering Jew!
Wandering from room to room
If thou alight
Kainsies delight
Poor wandering Jew!
Poor wandering Jew!
DVDs here and there
Oh, savoir faire!
Pull up a chair-
Laugher is everywhere!

Thanks DR DtM.....don't you mean the classic BIG MOMMA HOUSE.....the possessive was added just to be PC, the original is so much more cutting edge....

I will move it to the top of the list.

Off to do some errands.

SongSing, is that you there on the left with the umbrella (I'm sure DR MusicGuy will correct me with: "Mizz Karen, it's called a parasol !")?

Good morning!

I got up at 6:30 this morning! Can't believe I couldn't sleep longer because the house was nice and cool. It got down to 59 last night (in July yet!), and I had windows open all night with the attic fan drawing in the coolness.

It's partly cloudy now, so the sun is obscured and the cool continues. If summer could be like this always - cool mornings with rising temperatures in the afternoons - I wouldn't mind it so much.

I think we will have one more morning of this.

I'm not much for following crimes like murder investigations (a surprise since I watch so many crime procedurals on TV), but the Watergate crime was certainly something I followed intently. Even though I taught English and not history, my school kids would constantly ask questions about it until it all came out in the open.

Since I got NO MAIL AT ALL yesterday, I am expecting a haul today, and if it doesn't materialize, I may storm the post office and demand some answers!

Two major events for me on TV tonight:

1. Glenn Close's new TV series DAMAGES premieres on FX at 10 p.m.

2. Opposite it on Bravo is the season finale of Kathy Griffen's MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST. Season finale already! Wow!

BTW, MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST was again nominated for a reality show (non-competitive) Emmy last week, and once again she finds herself in the category with the winner the previous two years: EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION.

Kathy got some great comedy material out of losing to the show last year, so I'll look forward this year to see what happens.

Until the mail comes (with my MGM Musicals box PLEASE!), I continue today with MOONLIGHTING and ATOM MAN VS. SUPERMAN. For the latter, I'm looking forward to getting to disc two since it has special features on it.

TOD:

I don't usually pay that much attention to the big media stories. I paid more than usual to the OJ case, partly because I was in LA at the time and felt right in the middle of it.

100 songs in the Key of C?  If you have DR JoseSPiano playing for you, you don't need this book!

Perhaps DR Jose or DR Music Guy or others here who might play auditions as the accompanist can answer this:

Don't accompanists despise these types of books when they're brought in for an audition? I remember at one audition I attended (BYE BYE BIRDIE, I think), a girl plopped a fake book on the piano for her singing audition, and the pianist said, "Didn't you bring anything else?" She ended up singing "Happy Birthday," I think.

Laura, it wasn't in Phoenix, but on the news this morning I saw rescue footage from Tucson. A woman got caught in her car in a torrent of water and had to be pulled to safety. She was standing on the roof of her vehicle while the helicopter dropped a device to her. She hung on and was pulled off the roof and away from the swirling water.

That happens frequently in the summer, Ben. We have even passed "stupid motorist laws" which fines them or requires them to pay for the rescue.

It is drilled over and over every year: don't drive into running washes. Just like: never leave a child unattended. But people don't listen.
