Maybe Lady liberty can be talked into doing a torch song.  (old joke, sorry.)

Years and years ago, during a Bette Midler concert, she dressed up as the Statue of Liberty and sang a few lines of "The Man Who Got Away"  then waved her torch and asked "Do you get it?"

I always wished she would actually record it, but she never did.

I'm afraid we scared off poor Noel.  When I saw last week's posts I feared it might - this happened four years ago - I found it strange then and I find it strange now - no one posted anything nasty - just constructive, and this sort of thin-skin is amazing to me, especially after someone's been in absentia for four years, and especially because on this site no one does things to be mean, nor maliciously.

I was looking forward to hearing more about the casting and production, but alas, we won't.  Not really a good way to be when people have shown their support by saying they'll see your show, but that's just me.

I was in a CD store the other night, and they had a ton of Japanese imports of a bunch of 101 Strings albums from the 50s, 60s, and even 70s.  I loved those as a kid (I don't really know why) - these were all on sale for three bucks so bought a few of them, and I really am having fun listening to them.  Lots of show covers (whole shows, and separate songs) and about five volumes of film themes.

It's in case the blood rushes elsewhere from his brain and he forgets his name.  I believe it's a Heloise Hint.

It’s not a thin skin so much as a desire to please.

I view NYMF as a tremendous learning opportunity.  What I’ve recently discovered is that what I would most like to hear about a show-in-development is not what others want to hear.  I certainly don’t feel any sort of ill-will (the posts were constructive, not nasty), but am appreciatively listening to the suggestion that I keep my cards closer to my vest.

She was all grown up by the time you worked with her.

My hint read:

Quote
someone who’s recorded some of my favorite Lost In Boston/Lost Musicals tracks for BK has joined our cast.  She’s all grown-up now, but we’ve heard what dress size she wore when she was a little girl

Singers currently on http://myspace.com/suchgoodfriendsthemusical are Melissa Hammans, Eric William Morris, Michael Wartella, Alan Shaw, me, and the rather-not-be-heard DW Joy.

Yes, we just had another afternoon shower. It's rained every day for the past five days.

And we're still in drought conditions!

I spent the remainder of the afternoon watching HOME IMPROVEMENT episodes. I'm now five away from finishing the set.

The best one had Tom Wopat returning in the role of Ian, the guy at the YMCA who made a pass at Jill. Now, he was hired my Tim to put in granite counter tops in their kitchen. The attraction that she felt for him was still there.

There was another good episode where they discover their oldest son has been smoking pot and storing it under a chair on their patio. It was a very down-to-earth episode where they put their cards on the table about their own previous drug use and their expectations for him.

One of the smarter episodes from the seventh season (and it still managed to be funny).

I also looked at the blooper reel which is really the only bonus feature of note in the set. Some of the bloopers played during the closing credits in the various episodes that they came from. Others were seen for the first time.

I should be able to finish the set by the time THE CLOSER comes on tonight.

I'm surprised how quickly I was able to get through this set of episodes.

Hold your hats and hallelujah! Guess who just sent me an email apologizing for the way he handled the whole uniform accusation last week...? So maybe he's not so dead to me anymore, but I hope he doesn't think that means the incident is forgotten...I'm still watching my back.

Monday afternoon greetings from Nashotah House, just north of Delafield, Wisconsin, which is just west of Milwaukee.  DH Richard is here for the 5th of his 8 required residency weeks and it's the first time I've been able to join him.  The faculty, staff, and his fellow students have all been most welcoming to me.

We left home Sunday morning, as planned, about 7:30 and it took us about 9 hours to drive here.  We stop more often than others might and we spent about an hour in Merrillville, Indiana, having lunch, shopping for chocolate at Fannie Mae, and seeing the Anglican ProCathedral there.  We are staying in a 2-bedroom apartment in the married housing area, which became quite comfortable once we figured out how to turn on the air conditioning.

Today, Richard was off early for his first day of class and I puttered around the apartment before meeting him at 11:45 for a tour of the library, lunch in the refectory, and a visit to the campus bookstore.  He left me there when it was time for class to resume for the afternoon.  Now I'm on a computer in the basement of the library.

DR Jason - Just listened to your voice mail.  Still on for dinner somewhere in midtown around 5:30?  If so, yes.  And, yes, I was sleepingnapping.
