I currently live about 2 miles from Playland, I believe the only municipally-owned amusement park in the US.  Home of the famed Dragon Coaster.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Who's the gayest of them all?

And I thought, according to last night's posts, that DR Jose held the title!

I was laughing out loud at your photos and woke up my DH!

But, Jason, I bet those firefighters would have liked your picture even more than Monkeycake.

I love an amusement park that ends in "land". Here, we had "Storyland". And I also worked on a movie called FUNLAND, with David Lander and William Windom.

Well, I guess Coney Island ends in "land", too!

He's not vengeful, but he doesn't like roller coasters, either, so he can wait with your DH as we fly by and wave at them.

Look at meeee!!!!!!

OK, I have the day off to do moving stuff, so I'd better just do that!

Oh, and about the minibombshell I mentioned in last night's CLOSER? That episode airs next week, but the producers wanted it in the promo, so you might have gotten a hint if you were watching last night.

And as for the TOD:

It is interesting, because I very quickly realized that our HHW family is definitely divided into two groups depending on birthdays....BDL, and PDL.  I am of the "before DisneyLand" generation, and so the only big deal (we thought) was Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park.  And believe me, it wasn't the Knott's that you see today; it was very small, basically the large family-style restaurant for chicken dinners, and a very small "old west street" where you could pan for gold.  I think there was one or two little "kiddie ride" things, like an old train or something.

Those in the "post DisneyLand" generation have many more amusement park things to remember and choose from.

But the fun thing was, I actually watched the process of all of the orange groves being removed and the land leveled and worked on for the Disney park.  But a fence went up all around the property, and for quite a while Walt D. kept the whole project very hush hush.  We had no idea what could possibly be planned that would use up that much space!

I know someone has lived a long time in the Phoenix area if I say "Legend City" and he or she knows what and where I'm talking about.

DR Kerry would know.

DE JRand, thanks so much for ordering through our willowpondfilms website, which links to our distributor. And I'm glad they are about as cheap as DDDVD (although the shipping isn't free, I'm guessing.)

If only I could return the favor and go to one of your productions one day...

Thank you!!

I have been to Old Tucson but I would not classify that as an amusement park. Actually, a bit of trivia here....

What daytime serial filmed a fantasy storyline at Old Tucson and it featured a film actor?

Does anybody know where I can find a tea kettle whistling sound effect to download (free)?  Most of the collections online that I have found are useless!!!

You can call me and record the sound over your phone if you like.

I'll get my tea kettle ready.
