Speaking of the Closer. Here in canada they have always showed it starting the beginning of september.

Only the network it has been on (Global tv, well their CH sister station) is being turned into an E channel starting September. So no the Closer on their sched. I assume they have the rights. I wonder if there is any way to find out if any other station will be airing the show in Canada.

For some reason TNT is one station we do not get here.

DR Laura vibes for a quick AC recovery.  Ours was out in the bedroom for several days.  I didn't mind it nearly as much as Keith did.

We dropped 20 degrees after our storm.

Bryan's Hummus:

1 can garbanzo beans (chick peas)
Save a little of the liquid in case you need it

About ½ juice of lemon

¼ cup tahini-sometimes called sesame butter (decent, not stuff in the can or too watery) stir before using

Clove or two of garlic

Salt to taste, maybe ½ teaspoon

Can add a little cayenne pepper or paprika

Blend all the ingredients
If too thick add a little of the reserved liquid

Best if let sit in frig overnight but can be eaten immediately

Drizzle a little olive oil on top & sprinkle with a little sweet paprika or chili powder before serving.

Bryan likes to put spices on his pita when he toasts it, & he only toasts one side on a cookie sheet while I skip the spices & toast both sides on a cookie sheet.

DR Cillaliz, the easiest thing i can think of to make for your potluck is hummus and pita!   There are many recipes for hummus around (i make it quite often). Get a can of chickpeas.  Add in chopped garlic, olive oil and lemon juice.  I have this special hand mixer and it's made in seconds!  Go to the grocery story get some pita bread and cut it.  It's really good!

Thanks DR Jennifer...I've been thinking about making hummus

I just came back from somewhere I had never been before, Philadelphia PA.  We stayed for three days and we saw  the King Tut  exhibit in the Franklin Science museum, as well as exploring the rest of the museum

We saw the Librty Bell,
toured Independence Hall, Franklin Court, Besty Ross's home, the US Mint as well as  "Riding the Duck' (a vehicle built for WWII , it looks like a boat with wheels....

Vixmom, you can "Ride the Duck" in Seatte, too!  Is it the same kind of vehicle?  Here are some pictures:

DR, RonP re: Big Brother (no spoilers).

You should check to see if your CBS station is showing it at 1 or 2am. I think most are.

Also i'd check out BBAD if you get ShowTime Too (or the feeds if you get them).

Cilla-My suggestion is very similar to Jennifers, only I toast my pita for more flavor.

Buy pita, spread both sides with olive oil, slice in triangles, and toast both sides in the oven.

Humus to go with that would be nice.  I have Bryan’s delicious recipe if you want I will hunt for it.  We have a local restaurant that makes delicious hummus or more often than not, I buy it.

The toasted pita is always a bit hit.

Thanks DR Jane. If you find the recipe that would be great. Otherwise I have found a number of recipes, I'll pick one and go for it. The toasted pita is a great idea.

Oh and re: Big Brother

(no who won HOH spoilers, but simply what the challenge is).

It's actually something new that looks quite interesting. They all (eric, dani, dick, zach) have to fill a large pot with a small tea cup. It could take hours (which is why i think it could be cool to watch BBAD or the feeds).

It has cooled down to 103, and there are dark clouds in the distance. Maybe we'll get rain to cool us down; of course, that will make it more humid.

Cillaliz, have you read this article?  Foreign-Born Widows Face Deportation.  Do you think that this might be something that you'll have to deal with?

Hmm, I hadn't seen this. It really is interesting. If you get divorced in the first 2 years but can prove it was a real marriage not just for a green card you can still get residency, but if he dies you don't. That just doesn't seem right
