George, who is standing in for Jarod in the photos?

From what I can tell, no one is.  They just don't have any pictures with him at all. :-\ I don't know why and I didn't think to ask last night.

Once again, I'm noticing that Burt Lancaster's feet look so healthy and pain-free.  :)

But I am getting steadily better

Isn't it funny how our observation varies with our personal experience?

LITTLE KNOWN FACT:

It is possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not down.

And just how would anyone know this? OK, some farmers might. Still...

I think I'm being too literal. I should just laugh and leave it at that.

Perhaps someone can forward this notice on to BJ.

Please forward to your acting acquaintances: My writer/producer friend Scott Essman, for whom I have done several makeup/film projects, is looking for a 6 to 6-foot three, tall, slim actor to get into makeup this Saturday October 20th at 11:00am in Monrovia for an appearance honoring the 75th Anniversary of Universal's "The Mummy." The actor will recreate the famous scene of Boris Karloff's Im-Ho-Tep leaving his sarcophagus to snatch the Scroll of Thoth. It will likely be a full-body makeup which will take a couple of hours.

I will be appearing as Jack Pierce, the makeup artist.

We will be appearing with Ivonna Cadaver, Elvira-like local horror show host.

If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact:

As for the TOD :

I love Gertrude Neissen (sp?), Ruth Etting, Fred Astaire, some Helen Morgan, early Bing Crosby (accompanied by the theatre organ no less!!), and for variety there were some incredibly quirky tenors with extremely nelly voices.  Paul Small was one of them.

But one of my all time favorites (that was mentioned earlier) was Ethel Waters, especially singing "Suppertime."  It can still put me in tears.

A beautiful day here in the desert. I spent a couple of hours scooping ookey water out of the fountain and refilling it. The fish seem happier now. Or maybe I can just see them now.

And in the "What a Surprise!" category:

DR MBarnum, Colin Clive played Dr/ Frankenstein. John Boles played Victor, a friend of the family.

Had a nice lunch out, but it was very warm. It's clouding up a bit now, so maybe we'll get that rain they keep saying that we're going to get.

I began my afternoon by skimming through yesterday's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No pay storylines, and the previews for today weren't encouraging. I haven't watched today's show, however.

Next, I watched last night's CSI: NY. Wonderful development in the Mac/Peyton love affair. Two fairly interesting cases, especially the one about the time machine.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT:

Between 9 and 12 percent of the energy a cow consumes is converted to methane.  A single cow can release from 100 to 200 liters of methane each day.

Then, I put in UNDER THE VOLCANO and watched this sad, sad story for the first time since the film came out. Jacueline Bisset and Anthony Andrews were also in the cast, but Finney is almost the whole show, and he's utterly magnificent.

Then, I started listening to the three commentaries. Danny Huston does the commentary for the  main titles since he directed them at the request of his father (something I never knew).

Deborah Kerr has died at 86.

Somehow that doesn't seem so old these days.

Her film performances gave me much pleasure.  "The Innocents" was most unsettling!

I saw Miss Kerr on stage in 1973 in "The Day after The Fair". She was wonderful.
(I could not say the same of the wonderful Ms Bergman who was not so wonderful on stage)

Much of the charm, for me, of singers from the 1920s .....

Another Bowlly fan.

Such excellent taste DR MBarnum.

Dropping by to say hello. A bit quiet tonight. It has been a busy week and my computer at home is almost all up and running.

I also liked CILLALIZ's connection between lots of rain and increased business for her new firm, ie, people only attend to legal matters when they can't do other things.

I can vouch for that in the library. More kids in here doing research with all the rain.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT:

I'm not going to say it, no matter how much I am tempted to say it.
