I went to No End In Sight this afternoon.  It wasn't really eye opening or shocking to me. I wasn't surprised about any of it.  But it does present the whole SNAFU in Iraq in a chronological and understandable way

I think this here release from Criterion will likely make a few DRs very happy:

on 1/15 (SRP $69.95) will be a 5-disc box set containing I Live in Fear, The Idiot, No Regrets for Our Youth, One Wonderful Sunday and Scandal!

I don't think you'll have to worry about it.  Bollywood movies don't come that way.

Otherwise, if you search the archive posts for the terms, you should find a couple posts about it.

Or you could just Google or Wikipedia it. ;)

I have another very busy week coming up.  I probably should have gotten a lot of work done this weekend, but I'm glad I just took the time to relax.  I feel much better

ANNA MORPHIC was a chameleon-like actress from the Golden Age.  She co-starred in several fims with VERA SIMLITUDE.

It means it's enhanced for 16 x 9 television screens:

Jeanne, laura, mbarnum, and cilla thanks for the good thoughts.  They seem to be working and I’m somewhat better.

Bruce, I hope your tummy ache isn’t worse after eating a donut, one of the worst things you could have eaten.

I will call about my car tomorrow, but I am not optimistic about having it.

I ordered a lot of DVD's online today.

THE WILD PARTY - inspired by DR EDISAURUS' comments, and THE LAST VOYAGE starring Tami Marihugh.

Two box sets of Marlon Brando movies that were discussed here months ago....but got them both used for a total of about $40 including shipping.

I hear he's such an exhibitionist, I doubt he can dance with his pants around his ankles.
I'd, um, support him, prop him up from behind, something like that.

DR MattH, I did not realize that you guys were in season 2 of TORCHWOOD. I wonder if they will air both seasons back to back here.

Thanks for the info.

We are not in season two of TORCHWOOD. I said the Region 2 DVD set was released. Said nothing about Season 2.

Well... After being "stuck" with him in an elevator backstage at the Kennedy Center, I can safely say he doesn't need any support.

And I hope when you got your new TV that you told your DVD player via the setup menu that you no longer had a regular (4:3) TV but a 16:9 (widescreen) TV. It makes a BIG difference in the DVD player's ability to show discs properly.

Good evening one and all!!

Tough weekend... WEnt home and tended to somethings for my parents. Put away some of the outdoor stuff for winter. Oddly, we have not had a hard freeze yet. We normally have one in September.

My dad is still working but his temperament at times is pretty rough.

I spent most of the evening prior to prime time watching the special features on the second disc in the BREATHLESS set. There was an archived interview with Jean Seberg circa 1964. There were a couple of video essays about Godard's views on making films from his critical essays and how they were instituted when he filmed BREATHLESS. D. A. Pennebaker contributed an interview in which he discussed how methods of making documentaries were incorporated into the New Wave's theories of making narrative films. There was also a short film made by Godard prior to BREATHLESS starring Jean-Paul Belmondo.

The only thing I didn't get to was the 80 minute documentary made in 1994 about the making of the film. I'll watch it tomorrow, hopefully in a single setting. I only had about 40 minutes before prime time TV started tonight and didn't want to start and stop it.

I did start and stop the documentary THE DAWN OF SOUND on THE JAZZ SINGER disc 2. I'm enjoying it enough, and saw some clips especially dealing with the Movietone sound-on-film trials that I hadn't seen before. Hopefully, I can finish it tomorrow.

I did watch VIVA LAUGHLIN tonight (episode #2). I doubt the show will run much longer, and they definitely need to drop the singing as no one in the cast can sing especially the leading man who was noticeably flat on his songs tonight.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES introduced the new gay couple tonight. I'm sure they're going to have secrets of their own that we'll learn about in due course, but tonight they were basicaly punch lines for Susan's ineptitude.

I did love the Shirley Knight storyline and will be glad to have this talented actress around for as many episodes as they can draw out the story.
